View Full Version : Am I the only one bothered by this?

How come all the Assassin's we've had to play have been short? Honestly, Altair was shorter than Al Mualim, an OLD MAN, Ezio was shorter than militia guards, and Connor was a freakin' hunchback. Edward was shorter than Hornigold, who was known in history for his small stature. None of the Assassins we've played so far are over 5'9. They're all short, even though the average man is six feet. Why is Ubisoft forcing us to play as short guys? I mean, look at Benjamin Tallmadge when he was talking to Connor. He was a whole damn foot above him.

Well Desmond was 6' according to the wiki if it makes you feel better.

lol I did notice Connor did kind of stand/walk oddly with his head a bit forward and one shoulder infront of the other, but I wouldn't call him short.

BUT WE TALL FOLK NEED TO BE REPRESENTED YO

I've admittedly never noticed this at all.

And Connor wasn't hunchbacked...

Lol, the first post made me laugh...

But it doesnt bother me much, and Connor wasn't hunchback.. he just stood in a "cautious" way if that makes sense. Maybe this would shed some light on that?

But I did notice that he was taller than Achilles and shorter than Tallmedge.

I have never actually looked at how tall each assassin is lol
Its not really important when you are stabbing guys in the throat xD

I don't think any of the assassins were vertically challenged enough to warrant such an outcry.

I thought Connor was stooping a bit that's all. Also if it makes sense from visual perspective the axis of the body is gonna appear to be a bit "off" because of the quiver and arrows.

Never thought of it tbh :)

We should play as a midget Assassin.

Well it is easier to blend in a crowd when you don't tower above them...
I would be all for a taller Assassin or a shorter one for that matter, really just more diversity would be great. :)

Tyrion Lannister for next AC please!!!

We should play as a midget Assassin.

I'd be up for that.

Men in the 1100s/1400s were typically 68.27 inches (5'08").
Men in the 1700s were typically 65.75 inches (5'05").
Men today are typically 69.5 inches (5'09").

They weren't (and still aren't) no 6' average.

It's likely a design choice and for animation reasons that most of the characters tend to be close in height. I know Washington and Jefferson were over 6' (Washington was 6'1" and Jefferson 6'2"), but Washington's shown to be Connor's height. Jefferson's actually a bit shorter in ToKW. It would seem unless height was a massive factor for a person, Ubisoft didn't care much to look into how tall someone was to size them against the Assassins. So a character's height might end up related more to how tall their motion capture actors are in relation to each other or perhaps their voice actor's height. Napoleon, I imagine, might be the first character shown at a more proper height given how many jokes there are referring to him being short.

Interesting tidbit: most successful men are over 6'.

Exactly

I'd be up for that.

Me to, I'm just worried there might be lower quality.

I never really paid attention to it, but I guess the more compact, the less clumsy at moving they are. It does seem weird in Connor's case (if it's actually true, I can't really remember) since they were aiming for a bulkier, stronger physique with him.

I seem to remember Ezio (at least in AC2/B) being as tall as most of the guards... except maybe the brutes. He was definitely taller than most of the civilians.

I've always wanted to play as a Brute for a bit, maybe a DLC about a guard being victimized by the assassins and him trying to defend himself. Just to sensitize the guards a bit, show them in a light that portrays them as the innocent working men they are.

^So many 'what if' scenarios. Templars, guards, little people... :)

What if God was one of us

Just a stranger on the bus

Srsly doh imagine playing as a member of TWCB.

Playing as a Templar or ordinary guard caught in the mix > playing as a midget or TWCB

Dunno I'm still waiting on a zealot Dishonored game although it's a different franchise.

I've never noticed this. Or cared. You're the same height (or taller) than most civilians, only shorter than certain NPC's like Mario or Tallmadge.

Is it because you think that makes the genetically inferior and worse human beings as a result?

You have supremacist tendencies.

Are you sure the average man is 6 ft? That honestly seems really tall. I mean I'm short so everyone is tall but that is giant status.

JustPlainQuirky
07-20-2014, 12:44 AM
The average height of the women studied was 5ft 4.5in, while the average man reached 5ft 10in

At least according to google. That's pretty close.

I think 5'10 - 6'0 is an ideal height for women

I'm 5ft 10 and I wouldnt want a woman taller than me. Im pretty sure "average" is dependent on location. Everyone in America is ****ing huge

UK male - 5ft 10
UK female - 5ft 4

US male - 5ft 10.5
US female - 5ft 5

TALLEST MO FO'S IN THE WORLD (AVERAGE)

Dinaric Alps male - 6ft 1
Dinaric Alps female - 5ft 7.5

Taken from Wikipedia, our trusty source - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_height#Average_height_around_the_world

Also these averages were taken over different years but i doubt they change much.

I'm short, screw you.

Lol jk but seriously why do you even care? This is among the most least important issue with AC I've ever heard.

What's next, not enough violet eyed assassins?
