Using info gleaned from Jetstream100 and Clint-ruin I have come up with these settings for the MS FF2 which include:

Mirror view with return o key

Jet's great full close/normal view switch
(button press/button release) NumPad0

Hat pans

Instant return to center joystick button 3

Instrument panel view with return Ctrl
to center.

360 degree sweep 1st left, then right, F11
then return to center

Switch NewView On and Off joystick button 7
This will return you to normal
game views. Sometimes
you might have to push F9 to
restore the Hat snaps.
NOW YOU CAN HAVE BOTH WORLDS!

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for donating the settings - I'll stick these [credited] in the next NewView help file. I don't have every kind of joystick there is to work out good settings for all of them :>

I've been playing with the new[er] Thrustmapper 4.02 software to try and help out the TM stick folks today so hopefully I'll be able to add in some settings to use with that as well.

Good work Box!

Those are pretty much the same settings that I have settled on for my MS FFB2 as well.

I have turned down the Return (KReturn=0) and set KAngle=1, while reducing KForward to 0.2.

I keep Joystick Binding to 0.1 or less. Any higher and I throw up all over the virtual cockpit. ;-)

i'm completely lost with that amount of posts and i can't figure how make to work newview with my TM TopGun Afterburner profile.

If i don't run the stick profile, newview work ok, but then i have no stick butons configured
if i run the joystick profile the hat won't work and i'm unable to look around...

any advice of what i must do to have my profile and newview working together??? plzzz!!!

PS: maybe is my bad english what don't let me to understand correctly all the information in all these posts http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Nice work, especially this:

-
- Switch NewView On and Off joystick button 7
- This will return you to normal
- game views. Sometimes
- you might have to push F9 to
- restore the Hat snaps.
- NOW YOU CAN HAVE BOTH WORLDS!
-

I'll try your settings tonight.

For you that are MSFF2 users: Don't you think that the stick is too little?

I have big hands, and I've had to modify the stick by adding some strings to make it thicker.

Hi,

I've got NewView working with the latest TM Thrustmapper software [4.02 driver 10].

Please make sure that you're running this same version by downloading it from http://www.thrustmaster.com

Confirm that your hat gets some response from inside the thrustmapper software, and that you don't have your hat switch assigned to perform keypresses or some other function.

Check that Thrustmapper is loading the correct profile for Forgotten Battles. Set this to 'manual' mode, or set it to 'automatic' mode and check that it notifies you just before FB loads that you're using the profile you think you should be using.

It may be worth generating a new FB profile entirely just to be sure that there's nothing in your existing one that's switching NewView off. There are several different commands in NewView that will effectively block POV hat usage, and it may be that you have Thrustmapper bindings set that are accidentally triggering one of these.

Check that you have the correct POV hat configured inside NewView. You can select from up to 4 different POV hats inside NewView. When you have the right one selected, you should be able to see the black dot in the POV check panel move around.

Try setting your existing IL2FB profile to execute when Config.exe is loaded, then see if you can get NewView to recognise the hat.

I can't really think of anything else to suggest. I'm not using the same stick as you, but I do use a TM Firestorm Dual Power 2 gamepad along with my Sidewinder 3d Pro. But I don't use the hat on the TM stick - I use the Sidewinder one.

Could anyone with a TM Topgun Afterburner joystick please confirm that NewView is able to work with Thrustmapper?

Just translated this from the Russian help file:

Block POV, with NumPad Key

This button calls the Button Generator when the hat is pressed. The Button Generator works when you press the assigned button. In order for the hat to work together with Thrustmapper correctly, you must assign the Thrustmapper Shift button to the "Block POV Use" function in NewView.

Can someone check this to see if it is correct (translation) and the feature works?

Hello client-ruin,

I use

NewView
together with

Thrustmaster TopGun Afterburner (Thrustmapper Version 3.08)
and
PC Dash2 (Saitek-Software)
and
Simped Pedals

and all works very well with Windows98 and WindowsXP.

But I do not know why but what is Block POV ?
And I do not know where I get the newest version of NewView.

I have also TrackIR from Naturalpoint and I have a lot of problems with it.
Using the above configuration without NewView but with TrackIr
(all new installed correctly and so on) I loose in FB after press several times a joystick button or PC Dash2 Button
my whole Topgun joystick and the Pc Dash2.
Only Simpeds and TrackIr works further.
Checking it out, I have after ending the game no joystick and no PC Dash2 in whole systems. Only after rebooting.

Therefore:
I love NewView !!
