Hey guys. Up until now, I'm having the most sucess in flying the Gustav... the BF-109G10 version. However, several times now I've experienced a serious engine problem that may or may not be my doing. Here goes:

In the heat of combat, I've usually got the engine at 110% power on an off (mostly on! ) and I'm sure that it's got to be heating it up quite a bit. When I need the extra boost, often times the moment I activate the water/methenol injection, the engine instantly experiences a sudden loss of power and starts making weird noises. If I don't break free and get home quick, the engine will usually fail on me eventually. Is the MW50 blowing my engine? What am I doing wrong?

Don't engage the MW50 at full throttle. You should lower it right down before hitting the button otherwise you will break the engine.

Best thing to do is engage it before take off with your throttle at zero. It only activates when you push the throttle above 100% so it will always come on when you need it.

These aircraft are equipped with MW50 injection system. The system operates automatically, giving the engine additional power as you move the throttle control beyond the 100% mark. The system can be switched on and off (using the WEP control key), however, it may only be done when the engine is idle or running on lower throttle to prevent damage. Also, it should be switched off when it runs out of water-methanol mix as it can't operate properly without external pressure and may lead to engine damage.

Okay - so how do we know when it's run out of MW 50, Lead? Is there a gauge or something? How long does it run on MW 50?

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>BF-109G10<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>LOL

A few months ago somebody posted a thread about Bf-110G2 in service date and the whole board piled on to this poor slop cos they all read "Bf-109G2" instead of 110. When somebody pointed this out there were alot of profuse pubic apologies.

I read the first two posts here today and off I went firing up teh FB tonight trying to get MW50 running in my 110G knowing something was wrong and only just now noticed the "109G" here a few minutes ago. That's two dorky things I did today, the other was buying cheap racing pedals (and they work too!) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

I´ve noticed that this MW50 shouldn´t be used under 1500m or 2000m. Try it , climb to 2000m and put engine to 110% and hit MW50 boost. It won´t break.

i start web when i start engine. Wont kick in before throttle is over 100 %.
Like the extra bit of power when taking off.

Hmm, try this.

Start engine, let it idle. Take note of your manifold pressure. Engage MW50 and check manifold pressure.

Result: it does do something at less than 100% throttle.

Stay on the bomb run boys. I'm goin' to get them doors open if it hare lips everybody on Bear Creek
