Just bought Forgotten Battles, i love it of course. Now this is a stupid question, but i just wanted to know if during any of the campagns when you score a kill, do you ever get to see the little tally marks that record them onthe side of your aircraft? Just looking at the cover of the game, and i can see on the Russian La-5 there's a whole stack of kills painted on it. Somebody set me straight.

Unfortunately, this feature isn't built into FB.
There's a utility to do this, but I don't know where or how. You could also paint the victory marks on the skin yourself, but that would be too much of a hassle.

Well thanx anyways. Say, let's say i've got alot of time on my hands and i would like to paint the tally's on the skin of my plane. How would i exactly go about doing that? Now i'm interested.

You can also paint victories on yourself; however you need a custom skin to do this.

that would be a totally cool feature in a future sim to have those tallies recorded automatically. wouldn't also be cool to have a plane 'age' while you use in offline campaigns? first mission, the thing is shiny and prestine. but the 20th mission, the thing is scared, interior is scratched and scuffed, weathered paint and cordite residue everywhere. ah, what could be. Oh I forgot, the ability to place a picture of Garbo on the instrument panel or your home town sweetheart. Now that would be money.

Alright i appreciate the input, and thanx Bobsqueek for the website. Now i've got a quick one on the actual image editing. Which skin do i try and alter if i want the kills to show up on my current Bf-109F2 used in the German Campagn? There's 26 diff ones. Sorry to drag this question out so damn long.

Whichever one you want - but like any time you modify a file, make sure you create a working copy and save the old one. There's no limit to the number of skins you can make (or download from il2skins.com) for each plane. There's a skin making tutorial on mudmovers.com, I believe. All you need is a graphics package like Photoshop. There's a site that has some ready-made kill markings, but I forgot the address.

The default skin cant be altered so you have to DL a skin put it in the proper folder and add your kills to that. You can change which skin is used by your plane also so that yours is the on that appears on your plane

Custom skins are placed in the IL2 FB Root Directory (where you installed the game)>paintschemes>skins>appropriate aircraft folder (in this case the Bf-109F-2).

There "Paintvictories 0.4" is the utility that paints on victories that is mentioned in a previous post. It is available at the Checksix site at http://www.checksix-fr.com/

On the site Check Six, you can find the paint on kill program under Il2 Forgotten Battles- Downloads(Telechargement)in French. From there click on UTILITAIRE(UTILITES) and you will see the program. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Enjoy.
quote:
Originally posted by Luftwaffe13:
