TRUE nightfighting with airborne radar, NAXOS, Window, SN-2, Freya, Wurzburg, etc. etc. would be VERY complex to simulate.

It would take a sim purely dedicated to WWII nightfighting to pull it off properly IMO. Until then, any nightfighting we do will be very simplified.

I doubt if we see a true WWII nightfighting sim for a long, long time. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Ju-88 c6 would be perfect for a ngiht fighter but the G series is better

If we really need a nightfighter game will need the Do-217M and N and the He-217

Hi All,

For those interested in nightfighting thought I'd mention this site at www.nightbomber.com (http://www.nightbomber.com).
Looks like a lot of work is still to be done but from what you can see already it could be a cracker.

Regards,

Control_Damage.

That's a fact. True nightfighters -- the Beaufighter and BF110 -- carried radar operators who kept themselves under cover so they could read dim scopes and avoid losing nightvision because of gunflashes. The scopes were "trees" I think...not the blip-dot-icon affairs we associate with radar today. There are a couple of guys in this forum who seem to know a lot about this technology because of their jobs and training. Maybe they'll weigh in with this thread.

Having said all that, it would great fun to try to recreate the night fighting over London and Berlin.

Winning isn't everything;
It's the only thing!

FB already has True Nightfighters....AI gunners http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

...unless the "new AI" advertised for the Addon puts some limits on AI gunners (and pilots) ability to see in the dark. If not, you DO NOT want night fighter planes in FB. Trust me

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gifCould they use the map as a radar unit in Me110 and the rear gunner as radar operator and gunner for the Schraege Musik Cannon arrangment?
It would make for some very interesting night bombing and night fighter missions. Add in some Search Lights and some Anti Aircraft Belts surrounding the target.
Maybe???
