Done them all too.

Guess augering in while looking at somebody else's plane IS pretty bad.

And I've done it quite often...

getting shot by the rear gunner must be very embarrasing, thank god the Storch is not flyable http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

In May 1942, Nazi submarines sank two Mexican tankers, and Mexico declared war against the Axis powers. Thus forming the 201st Mexican Fighter Squadron equipped with the P-47D and sent to fight in the Pacific

Death by typing is always grim.

No matter what you always feel the need to tell everyone you were typing whilst being bounced (like that's some kind of excuse). Done it far too often.

So far out of my two (yup just two) experiences online... I think it's almost colliding with an IL-2 on my side... But that's not dying... Hmm... I actually don't think I have actually died an embarassing death yet. Somebody remind me to if you see me online. I'll try my very best to die in a stupid manner.

How about waiting to take off in a good COOP, not realising your throttles at 50% and auguring into the guy in front of you before you could slam on the breaks.

Then feeling the silent disgust of the other pilots as you apologise profusely- especially the one you just killed!

I can tell you what is the most aggravating way to die. Its pumping a guy full of cannon rounds in a high speed dive only to have his dying plane pull up and you collide. Then I see this:

3.JG51_Hunde has been shot down by XXXX.

If you could see my face at this momonet, it would definitely be the most embarrasing http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

Funny poll, I would have to say the typing one. As someone else said you are complelled by God to type some sort of notification to the other players that you were typing http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif.

Death By Typing..absolutely! Happened most recently today.

Since I never fly Axis, Goering himself has awarded me a dozen Blue Maxes (all posthumous, of course) for all the times I've crashed Allied planes or allowed myself to be bounced by watching the keyboard instead of the cockpit.

Funny thread!

I've done all the above (regularly!), but my worst moment was pretty spectacular in the red face department http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I was C.O. of the Black Lions at the time, leading a heavily armed flight on a tree-top level, precision-bombing raid. Highly-charged, we roared over the forest floor until we emerged into open country, right on target. Over the edge of the bluff into a broad valley....three miles away and half a mile down, a German airfield crowded with planes lined up to take off...I don't imagine any one in the Squadron wasn't grinning with anticipation at the blow we were about to strike.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

We rapidly chose our individual targets and eased our bellowing steeds out of their tight formation for the final swoop. With ice-cool precision our hero lined up a row of transport planes, took careful aim and hit the tit ......and gazed helplessly at the canopy flying off, and a figure in monogrammed coveralls leaping wildly from the wing - two hundred feet above terra bloody firma!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Roger Wilco gets very distorted you know, when a whole squad laughs at once http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

....but it was nothing to the reaction of my tailgunner. WTF! comes nowhere near it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif And worst of all he was sitting six feet away from me, my friend and guest for a weekend of online ICS flight. Excellent story! I hadn't thought of adding accidental bailing to the list, even though I've done it, although never in such spectacular circumstances! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

We need more poll options. I once crashed after getting into a flat spin whilst trying to attack a Storch. He never even got a bullet into me. Everyone else laughed, the rotters http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Have to agree with SeaFireLIV. I've not done it myself (touch wood) but I've had it happen to me twice. Both in VOW.

You wait for ages to join a game then the guy behind you piles into immediately after engine start as either :

a) Their throttle wasn't pulled back on engine start or

b) They forgot to brake when turning the aircraft to check the view in front.

Invariably, you were the last two human pilots in a long queue for takeoff, and the ensuing carnage amidst the kamikaze AI means a large bonfire and your side being at 50% strength from the off.

My own personal embarassments mainly revolve around augering in whilst watching that guy I just winged, to see if he's actually going to crash, and in the event beating him to it.

Embarrasing? It's just a game, nothing to be embarrased about.

Blacking out in a tight turn, and only get your vision back when you are in a 80 degree dive, and the ground fills the windscreen.

From the Oxford English Dictionary:

augur: suggest a specified outcome, portend, bode, foresee, predict.

What I actually MEANT was

auger: a large corkscrew-shaped tool for boring holes in the ground, thus augering in. This was (is?) in common usage with (esp. American?) pilots.

My bad http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif I'll go to the original post and change it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Well my claim to fame, In a coop mission was dropping 2 500 lb bombs,Instead of starting the engine on the runway.(saitek fogot to switch modes). Felt prety bad considering i took out 80% of our force (i was 3rd in a line of 16). I am not proud of it.

Ive done a few in my life...

1) While in line for takeoff...the phone rang and i had to leave the computer...so i pulled off the runway in order for the pilots behind to be able to go. Except i didnt look both ways first and plowed into the guy who was directly behind me when he pulled around to get a quicker takeoff....oh he was the admin too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

2) I was in a TB3 being pursued by a B239, and i was damaged quite a bit (holes everywhere\ only 3 engines working) and carrying a load of 4 1000kg bombs. I jettisoned the bombs with a hope of lightening my load and possibly catching him in the explosion. However i didnt realize how close to the ground i was, nor how slow i was going. Needless to say the bombs blew on the ground taking me with them. It was quite embarrasing....
