I know, kind of an offbeat question, but I'll never know till I ask. I guess you can boast here of your mad skillz, but since 1C:Maddox did put commands mapped to keystrokes, I wonder if anyone has ever tried it, and succeeded. If you have then I http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif to you, sir.

My batteries died during a Co-op once. I also fly with the keyboard when testing FMB maps that Iā've made (no point in lugging out the stick for a test).

i installed FB on my dad's computer to show him, and managed to make a full Me262 flight ( takeoff - climb to 5000m - descent - landing) on keyboard, since he had no joystick yet. But i wouldn't recommend it - it's painfully difficult and you can't have any accuracy for gunnery.

I don't think it's possible to fly well because the keyboard only allows for on/off, that is to say you get full stick pressure or none at all. Now maybe there're keyboards out there that're pressure senstive, in that case, it'd definately be possible to fly with the keyboard.

Anyone who manages to down AI aircraft while flying with the keyboard has my respect and downing Humans online get DOUBLE my respect.

But why? What for? The only acceptable reasons I can see are :

1. Can`t afford a joystick (unlikely as they`re really cheap ones about).
2. Can`t wait to start FB and can`t be bothered to go out and buy a stick (acceptable I guess).
3. A challenge to prove something (what?). http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Other than that , no point in putting yourself through the misery of keyboard control.

Bow down before me. Actually I never did it online, but I wasn't bad offline. I didn't really play video games before FB, so I decided to try it out by downloading the demo. I didn't think that I had enough computing power to buy the real thing, so I played the demo for a good long while with a keyboard. The demo, if you recall, features full gameplay in QMB, but with a limited planeset.

Actually, once you get used to it, the keyboard can be suprisingly accurate. Because everything is off/on you can really focus on moving laterally or up/down. The trick is to be quick on the controls. Come to think of it, I don't think that I had the stall option on.

When I got the joystick I thought that the game would be easier - it wasn't. It took me a while to get used to the movements. Strange.

It's amazing what you can have fun with. Just my 2c.

There was, and maybe still is, a young fellow who had I believe 8 or 9 kills on the greatergreen server who flew only with the keyboard. This was a few month's ago.
