From "The Mighty Eigth War Manual" page 234:

"The K-14 was the fighter version (of the gyro computing sight), first received for trial installations in July 1944 and progressively installed in as many fighter aircraft as possible after August, replacing all other types of sight. It was fitted on production P-47s from January and on P-51s from March 1945."

It then lists model and aircraft type together:

"K-14 - P-47D and P-51B, C &D & K conversions for cockpits.

K-14A - From P-47D-35RA & P-47M, P-51D-20-NT & P-51D-25-NA cockpits."

I don't know if this has been announced yet. Will the Jug get the "acemaker"? It should.

Looks liek '45 to me after reading that bit. BTW, AFAIK the P-38L will have it, the J not. I think I've seen an P-38 'pit with a K-14 in the dev ups already. The P-80 has it, 2.

The Spitfire XIV and Tempest V
should also receive gyroscopic
sights (Mk IIC as far as I know),
the RAF sight from which the K14
was derived.

I agree. Also, many Spitfire Mk ix's received the Gyro gunsight.

Willey we didn't find any confirmations that on P-38L used widely K-14 gunsight. Even no one photo in several P-38 historical books whee are tons of photos...
Same for modelled P-47s in our sim.
Same for early P-51s, however D-20 has it in our sim.

How is the rangeing by rotateing the throttle twist grip being handled with the K-14?.

The K-14 was retro fitted into many AC by the wars end, basicly all older P-47 & P-51 models still in service the ETO were fitted with the K-14 by wars end.

It's possible the P-38L did get the K-14 as well, but I have never seen 1 photo of a P-38L etc, with an K-14 sight installed.

Regards, John Waters
