I just got them, installed them, and there was no need for a FPS test: they suck dirt on perfect. I guess that the mention of IL2/FB in the list of fixes is just a load of cr@p.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Thanks for the heads up, now I will be going right back to the 4.2's. Did ATI get bought by Nvidia? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Sucks dirt is right! I tried the 4.2 Didn't seem to be as smooth as 4.1 on perfect so I went back to Cat 4.1 S!

Apparently the rumor has it that some later version of Catalyst is going to more properly support OpenGL. Right now nVidia still has the marked advantage in that arena (provided you don't own a FX5200 or 5600).

Meantime, I don't know how they would mention that Perfect mode support was fixed.

Oh and the suggestion at the tech forum is for everyone to go here: http://apps.ati.com/driverfeedback/

Let the artillery barrage commence. Maybe they will do something about it.

Already went there and entered my gripe. Highly suggest that anyone interested in seeing this fixed would do the same.

How do the 4.5s do under 'Excellent' mode?

I think its funny how some of you guys get all pumped up when new drivers come out. It says on the ATI sight only change drivers if you are having problems. PROBLEMS!!!! Not cause you are searching for an fps increase. Try the Omega 4.2's they are very solid.

_______________
I'm fixin to.

Agreed. I have been using the Omega 4.2's for some time now and have found them to be very satisfying.

I think it is funny how each consecutive driver version is worse for FB than the last one. I also think it is funny that you would think that the only reason for downloading the drivers is if you are having problems. Of course, 10 fps in perfect with my current rig and only my plane in the air is a definite problem.

Yes, I tried out the new drivers to see if there was indeed an increase in performance, made my findings, then went back to the recomended 4.1's. No harm in trying, or getting a bit excited about the possibility of something better, Mate.

Maybe you guys should try the Beta 4.5's they are newer and contain a shedload of fixes,

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=784

They have more fixes than the official cats since the officials have to go to microsoft hw labs for WHQL certification.
