Hello, guys!

The first elimination is finished and New York is the first city to leave the final round, gathering 20 votes. It was, by far, the most voted city.

NY was the runner up for Round IV (AC3 and Liberation).

Let's continue elimination, 9 cities remain. Remember, you have to vote for your LEAST favorite. Here's how we stand:

Damascus (Round I Winner)

We need the poll!

I know :o The forum works in a weird way, I have to post the thread first AND THEN post the poll. Unless there's a way to do it at the same time?

Huh, weird. No, not that I can see.

OK, voted. Caribbean other locations for me. Loved them, but not necessarily as a whole, like the others, so...

Also, at the risk of being picky, can I point out that Caribbean has two Bs?!

How did frontier get past the last round, it was way ahead when i voted?? Never mind, i will try again. I just didn't like it :p

Just didn't real care for Jerusalem. It was basically the same exact city as Damascus, only a lot smaller and less rich color.

Rome!!!!

Sure it has great landmarks, but the centro district is the most lifeless one in the series to date, the colour palette is dull. It felt like if Firenze and Toscana had big and VERY ugly baby, ugh!!!!!

I vote for Caribbean Islands, they're beautiful and all but I just didn't like them as much as the other cities mentioned above.

It SHOULD have been like florence. That was how the architecture was at the time..but then they decided to ruin it lol.

Rome was very realistic in a way... It had some very beautiful parts, and some run down poor areas. I quite liked the surrounding countryside too. I agree overall it didn't make for the most visually pleasing city, but it added variety.

May Rome get dropped out soon here.
That city had a weird shape and the colors were kind of dead.

I like Jerusalem for the buildings, I can ignore the color.

Rome is not my favorite city, but I do think that visual distinction in its case is more important than historical accuracy. Rome would just be Florence #2 from a visual standpoint, and why do we need Florence #2 when we have Florence #1? I personally prefer the look of Rome we have in-game even though in real life it would look like that only a century or so later.

Voting for Caribbean locations now. It's just too broad, broader than the Frontier even (which I love), and while there are certainly awesome places, ultimately it's a collection of a bunch of small locations. So going for it (i.e. by not voting for elimination) means to also push forward all the small locations I don't really like alongside those that I do like, and I don't really want to do that.

I agree that Rome in game being historically inaccurate to its 1503 counterpart is not a bad thing per se, the devps sure had to make it look different, I am fine with that. The problem comes when it was, in my opinion, so poorly done. I have been in Rome, the Baroque architecture- unlike in game- is beautiful and truly stands out, ACB īs Rome looks so boring overall, another point is that if you take out Santa Maria in Aracoeli -the basilica in which you encounter Juno- and the Saint Peterīs one, ALL the churches have the SAME look, and we are talking about ROME!!!!!!!

They nailed with il Vaticano and the Roman Ruins, but the rest of the huge map seems dead to me.

The Caribbean other locations were cool, but even compared to Rome they aren't that exciting.

Weird that people don't seem to like Rome. It was the most varied map to date. The bad hood wasn't all that interesting, but there was the Colosseum, the Vatican, the countryside... it was sweet gliding around on the parachute.

Me too. :) I like the Campagna and Antico districts more than Centro. Some of the landmarks in Centro are really impressive though. Actually that's one of the few parts of the renovation system that I liked.... fixing the aqueducts.

Except for the parachute, didn't really care about that. :P

Voted for the Frontier. Definitely the most boring location from these choices.

Personally I love Rome. :o

It SHOULD have been like florence. That was how the architecture was at the time..but then they decided to ruin it lol.

It wasn't the anachronistic architecture that ruined it for me, it was the vast expanses of barren nothingness full of annoying video-gamey cliffs that made traversal a total pain in the assassin. Plus that sickening orangey-pink color palate in the Centro district, ugh. It reminds me of the terrible floral wallpaper they put up in nursing homes. Yeah, I said it, Rome reminds me of a nursing home. Whenever I run through the city, I can just picture Ezio thinking to himself "Dio mio, thees ceety bears de stench of old people."

Rome sucked.

I'm so surprised at the ammount of people who dislike Rome!

I actually think it's too big and too wide and the number of cliffs annoy the hell out of me. But I always thought Brotherhood was one of the fan favorites, and you can't love Brotherhood hating Rome, can you...?

Oh, the style doesnt bug me one bit, I like it that it's different from Florence!

The only thing Brotherhood does wrong is it's story (which is obviously a big part no denying that) and to an extent the city- apart from that it's pretty much the best in every aspect. That was, until AC4 stole it's crown. I love Rome, and the countryside surrounding it. Sure the cliffs are a pain and it's kinda empty but I can forgive that because this beautiful track plays in the background:

http://youtu.be/kPLSf5oZixs

The countryside of Rome and the city in general evokes a nostalgic pleasure in me. I guess it was because Brotherhood was my first AC.

Wolfmeister1010

Brotherhood's story was a step down from AC2, it was shorter campaign wise, and the city sucked.

BUT, it made up for it with TONS of new activities and gameplay missions, a charming renovation/guild system, some new combat, actually decent graphics for the time, and some damned wonderful music.

I see, you're more of a Liberation type of guy  That would be very indie of you.

Round's gonna close tomorrow, it looks like this is going to be a tough one. Though Rome has been more vocal, it's pretty much tied with Frontier and Caribbean!

Rome was better than all of the AC2 cities anyway.

I was about to vote Rome but the more I think about it, the more I start appreciating how Rome was portrayed in the game. You can't deny it had a unique atmosphere to it. I haven't played AC:B in quite a while since I've lent it out (and it's my least favorite in the series) but the more I think about it, the more I want to visit virtual Rome again.

Only problem is, now I don't know what to vote... :p

The most hip you can go is by not liking the one and only, the glorious, the faultless...AC2.

Who made this? Just watched a few minutes here and there and it's real clever how they have implemented several of the features from the game!

Farlander1991

It's by Gameloft, they do a lot of mobile counterparts of 'bigger' titles. Their Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions for DS was freakin' amazing.

Is that legal?

Farlander1991

Is that legal?

Of course it's legal, they're a legal company legally doing it with legal licensing deals :p Those AC mobile games are official titles.

EDIT: They're actually founded by the co-founder of Ubisoft, which is probably why Ubi approached them for a lot of their titles.

They also made Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles (which is okay, I've played it). Their quality track record is varied. Their Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions game was just awesome though, one of the most fun and fluid 2D combat systems I've ever played.

Discovery which is more similar to the mobile AC games was not made by Gameloft, though. It was made by Griptonite Games, and interesting note, Griptonite Games made the Gameboy Advance movie tie-ins for Lord of the Rings Two Towers and Return of the King which were rather awesome, and none other than Darby McDevitt worked as a Level Designer on The Two Towers one :)
