I have no clue! There's a P-51 with two fuselages also- kind of seems like some designer figured they'd get twice the plane if they put two of 'em together! LOL

I have heard of some reconstructions of the Z-1 (F series prototype) with 5 108's and the Z-2 (G series production design) with 2x151 and 2x103 or heavier weapons along with 2 SC500 or SC1000s! They have a use and look neat!

why not a Me-262 zwilling. 8 mk 108, 48 r4m, bombs
and fun assorted stuff?

And for the ultimate useless plane: the ju-87 zwilling
take a plane that is antiquated, and weld two fuselages
together for no apparent reason.
Never existed in RL, IIRC.

The Me109Z was for long range attacks (the starboard cockpit had a fuel tank in it). It was the Me109Z plans that lead to the design of the P-82, the twin P-51.

The twin Mustang (designated P82)was used in the Korean war as a night fighter amongst other duties. It has been called by some sources "the ultimate piston engined combat aircraft" and was by most accounts a formiddable weapon.

The guns were removed from the outer wings and centered in the middle wing. It was also sometimes fitted with radar, most often in Korea with the SCR720 set, that created a long bulky protrusion from below the centre wing.

I think those aircraft should be rather low on the list, the 109Z and the twin Pfiel look cool, but were non-existant/rare

They did this kind of stuff to get a fast solution to the lack of faighter capable of scorting planes like the b29, the p51 was made for scorting the b29 to tokyo right?

i know these zwillings lokk quite useless but this looks effective!
there where planes build that would carry a much bigger plane like there was a fw-190 that carried a junkers 88 filled with explosives so if the destination was reached the fw-190 would detach the junkers and it would crash and explode on the target some kind of suicide but then without a pilot dieing it would be great if this was in the game the things are called mistels

How about a Boeing 747-zwilling? Cheap counter to the A380! Two fuselages, 7 or so engines!! Passengers and cargo delivered by parachute because it is too large for the runways and terminals, passengers board by cable like in Broken Arrow.

Na, that thing would be like a Imperial star destroyer.
Let's have a Storch zwilling instead. Slow, fun and with
TWO 7.62 mm guns. that's double firepower to original single
storch. Nothing will survive this uberplane/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

What about a Me-323z? I think the 323 could carry over 100 troops, so you could double the effective load- and a wingspan rivaling that of the Spruce Goose! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Nothing to do with Zwillings but still, wouldn't a Bf109 g12 be cool, a two seater!

Those Zwilling's (He111Z) were a pretty rare birds. They only built two prototypes (V1 & V2), followed by a production run of just 10 aircraft. Didn't need them after they had the Me 323 up and flying. They first saw action on 11 February, 1943 in the Kuban. Lost three of them here and several others were damaged. The Germans had lost another five more, before the unit (I/LLG 2) was disbanded in September, 1944.

I'd like a Me-163 Comet Zwilling. That would make a speed of about 2x850 km/h = 1700 km/h....... right ?!? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Nah, if doubling airspeed was that easy, the sky would be filled with zwillings!

You would have seen the Wright Bothers make a zwilling out of the 1903 flyer.

And what about a Gee Bee Zwilling for the Thompson trophy races? That would be about 600mph, and you'd still have a wingspan less than 30 feet!

Come on folks you know why they made that 109 so the pilot had company on those long flights into missions lol.

Oh that pic there of the Junkers, its amazing some of the strange junk they made even flew.

May you not become a dirt torpedo.

Very successful "Zwilling", test flown during WWII but too late.

The F-82B "Betty Jo" still holds the un refueled distance

for any fighter, from Hickam AFB Hawaii to LaGuardia

in New York non stop! Average speed was over 340mph.

Got that people, over 340mph sustained for thousands of miles.
