I have seen many posts on the cockpit being dark. Since I prefer to fly inside the cockpit I've noticed that the view outside is so dark it is hard to distinguish objects such as targets (i.e. planes, tanks) or their orrientation. I have played at 12:00 noon and it still appears to me that the outside view is very dark. I have adjusted gamma on my monitor and it's still too dark. Not being able to see the target very well makes this game very frustrating to play at times.

If I change the gamma or brightness settings on my own monitor too much, the cockpit colors look unrealistic. Please consider making the cockpit view less dark in the future.

As a small note:

Since the advent of Nvidia Detonators 40.00 driver series, the image darkness is greater. I loded recently 38.40 and it looks much brighter. Maybe there should be a gamma correction within the drivers themselves...I miss that.

I've tried a variety of drivers for my Ti4200 and have settled on 30.82s for now. In FS2002,F18,Janes USAF, WWII fighters , and EAW I do not have this problem (low constrast - dim view outside). It's only a annoyance in the FB and original IL2 game. It seems like such a basic thing. If fixed would make a big difference.

I got so frustrated I started flying WWII fighters just to relieve the eye strain.

I play with everything on max, and i still find things a bit too dark for my liking, so some controll over the issue would be much apreciated!

Anybody notice the red/pink cockpit panel reflections of the sunset/sunrise sky--as you fly away from the sun and roll and yaw around? Best seen on I~16,MiG~3, and a few others too. Some panels seem to be modelling flat black panels, like the bf109 does not reflect the sunset/sunrise light at all.

PS:: You must have Landscape Shading at *maximum* setting (or Landshading =2 in "conf" file) to get best cockpit reflections of sunlight.

I have everything on max and have a problem seeing outside the cockpit. Like I mentioned in post it is the targets that I'm having trouble with outside the cockpit, unless I use the "No cockpit" cheat. IT is just too dark outside when viewed from inside the virtual cockpit.

Bump for all those you think the Virtual cockpit view to the outside is too dark. (Nvidia cards)

I always fly the 109 in cockpit and I can see fine, apart of course from the lousy cleaning job the groundcrew have done on the 109's, I have all settings on excellent, it sounds like your pc or monitor may need some adjustments.
