Basically, it shows how all russian radial engines are descendants with modifications of course of R1820 used on B-17s and numerous other American planes, go figure.

Not a huge surprise, nations copy other nations technology all the time. If its a good idea why not use it. The first Russian military capable jet was a copy of a british engine. The Japanese copied the M2 machine gun and the US used alot of captured technology from Germany.

I read the same thing but not just american, before russia had the reproduction rights to reproduce the DC3 they made a copies of the engine which underperformed the dc3 engines. But it was done on purpose because they rather have longer range then faster speed with thier il copy of the dc3.

I also read captured 190 bmw engines where copied with certain modifications and put into the la5/7.

Im sure looking at blueprints of all three we can see whats from what
