be the China/Japan and Russian war theatre.

there were a lot of cool planes fighting there.

Here are two cool American fighter planes that fought
for China against the Japs,

I cant post the pics direcly here,
so I had to link them,
I would be glad if someone could
help me with posting some pics of them here.

Here is a pic of the Vultee P-66 Vanguard

A quite good plane that could give the Japs
some hard time.

Here is one of the Republic P-43 Lancer

Not the best plane in the world but good looking though
you can see who its big brother are

OK maybe I didnt use the best words,
forget them

how about this

I am wondering maybe there is a tiny tiny little chance that oleg & Co
are going to do a China/Japan and Russian theatre,

because Luthier & Co at Il2 Center has started
to assist Oleg with, I think, doing Maps of different
war theatres and they wrote on their home page
that they would consentrate on more forgotten theatres.
Luthier is also modeling a Ki-84 "Frank"
and on the FB development pages was a Zero displayed
and I think Oleg has the P-63 KingCobra reserved
and its said that it mostly saw combat in the far east
region thats why it isnt in the game yet,
and many of the planes thats already in the game also fought aginst Japan over there.so you already have planes for that ceneario.
And it also involves Russian partisipasion and I think
it lies in Olegs taste.

What do you think?

The Lancer had one of the nastiest stall/spin problems of any US aircraft. It is notable as a transitional design to the P47.

I say bring on the Far East!

CBI theatre anyone?

Obviously I would love to see a theater with Japanese planes. I think it is a no-brainer to do so. All the other choices would include the same Axis/German planes again. A Far East theater would definately give us more variety of planes.

You made good observations. However, Oleg allready signed a contract for the future 3(!) flight sims. He said that somewhere so, your scenario is quite possible. A long time ago, he also said the next flightsim, incorporates alot of "sand" /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif so, it is a long time belief that his next sim will play in africa /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I don't recall reading anything about bad spin characteristics in the P-43, and I do recall reading about the Flyng Tiger pilots ferrying them to the Chinese and considering it very favorably, when compaired to the P-40. The main reasons Chennault did not use it was because the first batch was not equipped with pilot armour or self-sealing fuel tanks, and the second production batch was still having serious problems with the self-sealing fuel tanks not sealing.

The main reason the P-43 wasn't widely used is it was only a few months ahead of the P-47. In fact, the only reason any were produced at all was to keep Republic's skilled labor employed until the P-47 was ready to be mass produced. It was considered cheaper just to make a hundred or so of them than it was to rehire skill workers when the P-47 was ready to tool up.

It was a B&Zer

It lacked good manuvrebility and the climb rate was poor

Maybe djudged wrong,
the over all impression on the
Chinese theatre was that it was not suitible for
dogfightin,
yes!
when it regards über manuvreble Zeros and Oscars!
but maybe it had performed better on other frontlines.
+ the Chinese pilots was not as good trained as the Japs

I know that in 1939 when it began flying they found it
to performe better than the Seversky P-35 and
the Curtiss P-36 then in use.

Another neat plane would be the Curtis CW-21.

http://www.geocities.com/wwiiluva/cw-21-22_2g-nld.jpg

http://www.sml.lr.tudelft.nl/~home/rob/models/images/cw21-04.jpg

This was strictly an export plane. But in the day it was developed it had very good performance.

Maximum Speed: 315 mph at 17,000 ft.
Cruising Speed: 282 mph
Initial Climb Rate: 4,500 ft./min.
Service Ceiling: 34,300 ft.
Time to 13,120 ft.: 4 minutes
Range: 630 miles.

Check out that climb rate.
