Is there life beyond the Ubi online gaming system?

I get the impression that there are loads of FB players out there on lag-free dedicated servers that I don't know about... is this true.

So far I've only really found the War Clouds medium server to my taste... the rest are either full "realism" with no external views or have unlimited ammo which stops me from using my "do aerobatics until they run out of ammo... then turn round and shoot them down" technique. I like external views because it looks pretty and it's handy for working out what's going on.

What's the gen on the dedicated server situation? Who plays where and how?

Try Hyperlobby.

We have 300+ there every night, etc...

It's a free tool as well.

Hello http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Hyperlobby has a greater variety and choice of servers than ubi

If you want lag free servers you have to visit each server in turn (in all the places you know)to see how how laggy the connection is, and make a note of the ones you like.

Sometimes the lag grows as the amount of players increases, or even the time you play and where the server is situated.

What may be lag free for me, may be very laggy for someone else.

There is plenty to chose from and I have about 6 with different in game settings, if one is full I go to the other.

S~ Huxley_S

I am glad that you are enjoying the War Clouds Medium server. If you like is so, then you need no others http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. Just kidding. Everyone like a lil difference in life. If you have any suggestions on what could keep the server more exciting, please drop by our forums @ www.war-clouds.net (http://www.war-clouds.net) and post your thoughts.
As for Hyperlobby, yes there are some servers over there as well. And honestly, there are just as many on Hyperlobby as there are on UBI for the most part. Yes they will tell you they have 300+ players of there everynight, but that is not 300+ on dogfight servers. There are VEF and VOW players there as well and that is what makes of more the 70% of the player base. I am not posting this to bash on Hyperlobby or anything. I just am relaying the facts. On any givin night, Hyperlobby and Ubi have about eqaul amounts of Dogfight players. The do have a few more servers usually, but they are emtpy most of the time.

I hope this helps you out. As i said before, if you have any comments or suggestion for the War Clouds servers, please let us know via our forums.

Hey!

I do like your War Clouds medium server a lot... a few more maps in rotation wouldn't go a miss especially those with complex terrain. Some people complain that they are a bit laggy but I can live with a bit of lag... I expect it to a certain extent.

The main problem I've found lately with it is that there are never enough Germans. The Allies usually outnumber then 2:1 which is a little unfair on them and there ain't much I can do to help them out being a bit of a noob and only able to fly the LaGG IT with any skill.

But that aside it's my favourite.

Yes Huxley_S, we do need some more maps in rotation. I am trying to work that out now. What people dont realize is to make a map/mission for a scripted server can take anywhere from 2-4 hours per map. I am trying to find interested people to help in this. I would like to see us introduce 2/3 new maps/missions a week. It really does help keep the interest up.
As for the Lag on certain maps. Not much we can do about that server side. That is a client side issue. Sometimes you have to sacrifice visual quailty for game play. I do this myself.

The sides are never even. I don't care what server you play on. Everyone wants to fly Russian planes. Very rarely do i get on any server and see the teams even. I have asked people to even the teams when i am on, but you always get the "i cannot fly german planes", or "I can only fly the LA/Yak/Mig". To them i say, accept the challenge of learning a new plane. There is more to this game then how many kills you get and your score. For me overcoming the challenges of a new plane is very rewarding. I am a P51 pilot. I will be the first to admit, i only feel comfortable in that plane. I have flown it in the CFS series almost exclusively. But now i feel its best to learn a plane on the Axis side to help promote team balance. I would hope others will do the same.

Well hope to see ya on the server

S~ and happy flying
