Hi folks, I did some research and according the book written by Yefim Gordon and Sergey Komissarov (Il-2 and Il-10, The Crowood Press) Il-2 was development was diverged into two directions; one was a heavier version called Il-8 and the other was a lighter Il-10. Both planes were constructed and test-flown, but at the time they did not wanted to have two planes and the Il-8 was abandoned.
However, although slightly slower (510 vs 540) and less manouverable, Il-8 had a range of 1100 km compared to 800 of Il-10 and the normal bomb load was 1000 kg vs 400 of Il-10.
Considering the Il-2I made its way to the game even it wasn't actually used in practise, I wonder whether we could have this heavy beast in the list of flyables also some day.
Both planes have almost the same overall shape and both are equipped with the AM-42 engine. Naturally, dimensions of Il-8 are slightly bigger, but the exact measures are not listed in this book.

the IL-10 was a complete redesign & was better in all areas the IL2 was weak in

it could match the LA5-FN in the verticle

it had 2000 Hp & could do 500 KmH on the deck

it performed in the last 4 months of WW2 & was the single best ground pounder of all of WW2

Because the gunnerposition in that one is different from all others (with gunners)... Has different armament too

yeah thats a il10

i remmber hearing that oleg had a model (by a 3rd party) but lost it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

dani (the modeler) i had some contact with, but he elected to upload it to luthers webspace rather than mine.

after that, not much happened, then i read in a post (possibly by gibbage) that oleg had lost model
sent email to dani, and one to gibb with dani's email, sorted out ftp for dani to upload to, and i never got a reply or a file uploaded http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

now if the model is still around i dont know, if i was luther i would have taken alook at the model http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

IL10 was a massive improvement, and i want it bad too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/heart.gif

This has been done before but it needs to be raised again till we get it. We must have the Il 10 the game will not be complete till it is included.

The model was passed to someone around March or April time or something. It was about 90% done in the externals and was just sitting on someones HD waiting to get finished. Don't remember who picked it up. But since then I've heard nothing.

Oleg posted, and he said he wanted it in. I think I'll try and dig that post up about who got a hold of the model.

whit ye looking at, ya big jessie?!?!

Ok, found the thread:

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?q=Y&a=tpc&s=400102&f=63110913&m=124101332&p=1

And here's a direct quote:

I don´t have any problem to give the files to any who wants to work on it. In fact, i allready gave the model to 3 diferent guys. Any of them did anything with it.

if you want them, please email me at kozhedub2000@yahoo.es, but please only if you really want to work on it.

Please send to me. We evaluate the model.
We will make it if there are not any general problems and will ask third party to make a cockpit. Maybe not the absolutely quality, but good.

The original guy who said he had the files was Kozhe. He said he passed the model to 3 other guys, and they hadn't done anything. I wonder if he passed it to Oleg or anyone else.

I'm sure there was another thread somewhere as well which had screenies of the IL-10 model. Hmm, I'll try and find that one too.
