S!

I'm about to order TrackIR2 because I've heard only good things about it and it looks great to me. But I noticed that you have to peel and put dots on your head, hat, etc. Do you have to keep buying new sheets of dots every time you run out? How long does each sheet last? Is there any way to make one sheet last so you dont have to spend all that money buying sheet after sheet?

S! Thanks in advance

Hutch

TrackIR2 comes with one sheet of dots, consisting of 6 large (1/2 inch) dots and 20 small dots (1/4 inch).

I use the track hat, but I just stuck a dot on a regular ball cap while my TH was on back order. The dot seemed to be stuck well after a few weeks of use, no signs of falling off.

When I dont feel like wearing a hat I just put a small dot on my forhead. Ive been re-using the same dot for weeks, sticking it on and off my forhead. I grown to like this method, I totaly forget the dot is there. Its the most comfortable solution for me.

So I guess the answer is they last a decent amount of time, but eventualy you may need a few more.

Ive just put one on the top of my headphones. The glue on the back is fairly strong so hopefully wont come off any time soon.

So no, you dont have to keep buying, just dont stick em on your forehead http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I placed 3 dots on my boom mike about 18 months with the original trackIR. I think I used 2 or 3 more on a hat for a bit. Never had to replace them. TIR2 came with a new sheet and I've yet to use a single one off that sheet.

Had Tir1 for a year and used 4 dots.

Put a dot on a steel binder-clip thingy and clip it to your hat. Lasts for months.

Go to accessories and then the hat..it's got reflective stuff built into it so you just wear it and it acts like the reflective dots...pretty neat!

Thanks for the ideas guys, the binder clip one sounds like the route I'll take.

I have one that I never use, make me an offer. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

As for the dots they should last a long time and if you run out, just pop into your local sign maker/vinyl graphics shop and ask for a square foot of white reflective vinyl which should only cost around $10 if they don't just give it to you. From there you can cut out as many as you like at whatever size & shape you like.

Now, vinyl won't be exactly the same since it's, well, vinyl and not fabric but it should reflect IR just fine.

B_P, I'm just picking on ya, but.... have you ever forgotten, left it on, and gone out to the local mall with it? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I have the Tracker hat and it works fine but it is on the expensive side. Price after Christmas went up from $10.00 to $18.95. So if another way works, by all means use it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I just got trackir2 and am having some trouble setting it up so I can see to the rear. Anyone know of a good article on set up? (already read the PDF)

No, never forgot and walked out of the house wearing one.

I have answered the door and had my friends poke fun at me. You can imagine, the standard "when did you get married.." reference to Indian culture.

I use regular baseball cap with 3 dots on the edge of the brim. Works great, cheaper than buying hat.

Though none of my dots have fallen off of my boom mike yet, I'm thinking I'll just glue them back on their if/when they do fall off.

I just glued one big dot to the end of the bill of a baseball cap. Haven't needed to mess with it for about three months now. I figure I've got a life time supply of dots on that one sheet.

Microphone or front edge of ball cap work well for me. Seems to help getting it away from your face and a few inches closer to the IR unit.

The dots on my microphone have been there at least a year, show no signs of wanting to fall off http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The cap can get pretty warm in summer http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hello, I just got my TR2 yesterday.I attached a boom on top of my headphones. It's learning time all over again as I was so used to the mouse on a hat system.

I have a question though. The LEDs on the camera stays on even when I turn my computer complete off, is that normal? Isn't that going to burn the LEDs off? Thanks
