View Full Version : Destroyed Objects - why not not

I'm curious why doesn't the FMB objects file include the destroyed versions of the objects?

The destroyed objects are already included in the code, why not put them into the objects for access by the FMB, like any other object?

I know this isn't a big change, but it would make it a lot easier to build missions. The mission builder wouldn't have to destroy everything to get it included in the misison.

In other words...we could place destroyed objects (vehicles or aircraft), for more immersive misisons.

You can destroy most objects in FB from the FMB. I don't recall all the details, but while FMB is open, choose "Destruction" from the tool bar. Then just zoom in on the map, right click on the object and choose, destroy or restore. thats it.

As for the destruction of objects, I think you can only do it with buildings, and I think some vehicles.

I wish Oleg would look at it. I sure would like to be able to place stationary aircraft at fields, and display them in the game as destroyed.

I know that you can destroy objects, aircraft, etc. Mission builders shouldn't have to go through the process of destroying everything to show destroyed objects. Afterall, there is a destroyed counter-part for each object in the sim. Why can't we just access those objects.

I fly the PE-2 with a 5,000KG bomb set as blue or red dependent upon what type objects that need destroying. The 5,000 KG will definitely do the job, but it's just a workaround.

Again, there is already a graphic file created within the software NOW. All we have to do is be able to access it from the FMB.

So...I'm asking. Why can't we just have the destroyed objects as part of the objects files we access in the FMB.

Why use the Pe-2 when the mouse is so much quicker?

Is it for objects you can't set to destroyed status in the FMB? If so then who knows, maybe there's a reason but I dunno what unless maybe if there's a reason. Like, destroyed planes get cleaned off fields and crashed ones don't stay forever so maybe that's why you can't set planes as destroyed?
