Indeed there are movies there, cheers for the link! Good tips for those of us want to learn how not to:

1) Destroy a perfectly good Corsair

2) Ruin the flight deck

3) Die

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - Gunther Rall

These videos are most interesting, and are ignored too, it seems!

Very VERY interesting indeed... I love white caps over Waves for example. Great realism landing on deck!

I like how the hook on the first video bounces up and down after releaing the arrest wire. I call it a "rolling pencil" effect.

Is it me or does it look like these people are coming in way to fast and level with the deck not even doing a 3 pt landing and hooking.

Basically you should have to come in about stall speed 70-80 kts with the corsair landing on a carrier flaps down and do a 3 point landing.

I seen alot of footage in the documentary of pacifc carrier wrecks called "NO EASY DAYS I and NO EASY DAYS II" of aircraft coming in 150 kts and above ripping the whole tail off the hellcat and corsairs.

The videos look damn amazing and I cant wait to buy PF and help luthier pay for living in LI http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I cant wait for the see how many aircraft we can fit on a carrier tests. No collision bubbles like cfs2

You dont need a 3 point landing to hook. The tailhook extends WELL below the tail wheel. But yes, they are comming in WAY too fast, and you can see they are failing. Also, the speed is in KPH, not knots. so 120KPH-150KPH is about 70-80KTS.

My post's are my asumptions only, and in no way linked to fact. I am not an official 1C, Ubi, or Russian Red Rocket spokesman.

The one video with the landing force and destruction of a Japanese airfield was cool, kind of like a reverse Pearl Harbor because those two Zeros were going up against a lot of corsairs. That would be a challenge. Too bad they haven't released any shots of any new Japanese planes yet.

And I mean in action, I know they have the Kate.

Yes gibbage im well aware that it is in kph, however in the corsair pilots manual I got from zenoswarbird drive in shows kts and has the procedures for carrier qualifications, it also shows all the lso signals and take off procedures. Im well aware its still in development but they look like they are hooking at 280 260kmph and able to land.

Mephisto_666 thanks alot for posting the videos they look amazing gibb and luthier for all the hardwork too.

Gibb you might know the answer to this, will all aircraft have mat logos or will it be a part of the skin? I still need to give you the psd of the ki84. If you need help with any more skins just give me a hollar

Ya. Like I said, they were landing too fast (noobies) and they were failing. The only successful carrier trap video I have seen was an F4u and it was going fairly slow. I tried to trap myself and failed twice. First I slamed into the con tower, and the 2nd time after 4 attenpts I came in too low and hit the ramp. Its a hole new level of difficulty.

As for the Ki-43 texture, I compleated it and sent it off. If you can E-mail me the PSD to gibbage@gibbageart.com that would be cool so I can make a skin without the red markings that would be great. I will send you what I did so you can make some differant skins, but we decided on the green because its impossible too match up the spots on the seams.

That noob landing you speak of would be me http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif

I know I was coming in waaay too fast. I was doing about 250 or so but Luthier had the throttle while I had the stick. I didn't want to be rude and grab his hand but maybe I should have.

But it was awesome to finally get my hands on that PF for myself. Carrier landings will be exciting alone and I look forward to mastering it when it comes out in Fall.

Thanks for posting my vids up. The place I had them before went down.

Those were definantly some bad landings and its good to see poor landings rewarded with an explosion.lol
Btw- in one shot he was comming in at 134kts. LOL extremely too fast.
Start practicing your 3 point landings near stall speeds now folks.

Trapping aboard a carrier is not an easy thing to do. These guys were coming in way too fast, way too high, and the final was way too long, at least for the Corsair. You pretty much have to hang the aircraft on its propeller, flying just a few knots above stall speed. As you pass the aft end of the flight deck, hopefully just a few feet above the deck, chop the power, you drop like a rock and hope to snag a wire.

With today's aircraft it is different. The landing area is angled, so you have a better view of the carrier. The ILS system guides you down on the correct glide slope and angle of attack. When the wheels hit the deck, apply full power just in case the hook does not grab a wire.

In WW II and Korea, the flight decks were straight, so you either took a wave off, caught the wire, caught the barrier cables, or went overboard.

Who was in the videos? You can hear someone instructing the player, was that Ilya?

Those approaches did look way too fast. I thought the Corsair had a high stall speed, but that looked like a power dive at the deck.

And no booth babes? WTF

Umm.. Yeah the booth babes caused me to crash, that's it.

Yeah, that was Luthier and me talking in the background. He told me to flare right as I came in but as stated earlier my speed was too fast and my flare was pointless; causing me to crash into the tower.

Oleg actually has a video of me landing the TB-3 on the Lexington. That was by far the coolest thing I've ever done in my entire life. I'll see if I can get that posted here, but it may be a little difficult to get since I'm not sure if he can easily get it transferred to a PC.

so does that mean we will be able to use planes from FB on PF? ...

Sorry - I need to see it in black and white.

And I'll bet there wasn't much room when you got near the conning tower.
