I apologize if this has already been addressed. I don't peruse the forums that often.

My question is, will carrier ops, take-off & landings, be available in a DF server for PF?

If so, with what limitations?

Thanks for any replies.

Yes, however the carriers will be static. This may pose some operational problems with lack of wind over the deck.

The biggest limitation, IMHO, will be the many folks trying to spawn on the carrier at the same time, not to mention people landing and taking off simultaneously! It will be interesting to see how/if Oleg addresses this.

Thanks Razor.

Sure would be nice to allow some ships to navigate around in DF servers. Squadron Campaigns would be totally awesome. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/sonar.gif

Good point Razor. I never thought about the spawning, landing, and takeoff chaos.

Maybe there should be a line for spawning, kind of like a first come first serve basis. If you get shot down, you get queued and put in the back of the line with the message to the effect "the deck is in use, and you are 3rd in line for takeoff" or something to that effect.

One does wonder what people will do without taxiways to take off and land from http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

wow, never thought of the chaos, if they dont do it well, it will be alot of very negative scores, and the best pilot is the one with the least negative score

...there followed one of those moments in history, the sort when the entire earth seemed to stop its spin, hearts paused, and even the people who'd been screaming their loyalty to a man already dead would remember only silence.

yeah im with Razor, its going to be interesting to see how online play goes between carriers

If you dont call tower for landing, you have to expect to see suddenly some aircrafts on the deck (maybe via elevator? wouldnt that be cool?).

Easy solutions: use time-slots ... 1-2 minutes for takeoffs, 1-2 minutes for landings .. and then for takeoff again, etc.
Tower will tell you, whos turn it is and when the next slot is open.

And pilots get a little BoulderDash to play while waiting for takeoff http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
(or they finally develop/talk about some strategy!)

I'm gonna feel for you guys just for trying to get your planes off the deck. It'll look like all the videos we've seen so far with the static carrier. You're gonna drop 20 feet off the front end, and scrape the top off some white caps before getting airborne http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
good luck http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/34.gif
