Hi

While attempting to fly an offline campaign mission without losing my entire squadron once, I bounced a bunch of Ju-88's, only to have them roll inverted like Stukas and dive into the ground. They did drop their bombs just before they impacted, and it looked rather spectacular, but it didn't really make me feel like I was flying a real combat mission on the easterne front.
I have tried this everal times now, both when I jump the bombers while they are enrout, and when they reach their target and attack.
This is a serious AI problem, i hope will be fixed soon.

Thanks.

I bounced a whole squadron of Ju-88's just today and didn't notice this at all. Infact they held their formation like a good group of bombers. Unfortunately for them, we were lucky and most of the bombers went down.

Strange. Next time, I will save the track.

It happens from time to time. Also do fighters. In a QM My whole Squadron put theyr landing gear down and dived into the ground after a successful fight.

Apparently the cocaine usage of the AI is severely overmodelled.

It seems to be depending on the exact attack parameters. Move the waypoints just a little bit and the Ju-88 will stop their suicide and perform a normal attack. One more thing you have to control now when building a mission. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

BTW I noticed that the AI bombers' accuracy of aim has decreased, which seems quite realistic. But sometimes they drop their bombs when even a fool can see that it's hopeless.

I agree. Sometimes Ju88 drop bombs strangely... once, i see a formation of Ju88 do a Split-S altogether, and then drop their bombs horizontally. To my surprise, all bombs are directly hit their target. It feels like they miss their target when they fly pass the target area, and then make a return to aim their target again...

Strange...

The AI is just screwed up. Today I lost an He 111 in VEF2 on takeoff for no reason at all. He just took off and rammed a forest /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif .

At the start of WW2 the German army lacked experienced anti-aircraft gunners. The average gunner was so bad that the USSR decided to help them out. They did it by forcing some of their pilots to fly I-153 flak magnets. These planes were slow but very sturdy. This allowed German anti-aircraft gunners to get a large amount of target practice on a relatively small number of planes. Thanks to the Soviets help, by the end of the war the German anti-aircraft gunners were amoung the best in the world.</center>
