I started this about 12 months ago, and didn't find the motivation to finish it until recently. Hopefully there's still enough people around for it to spark some interest.

I'm putting it up in all it's 1024X640-resolution, 60fps glory, so sorry for the large download, but it's worth it. If there's enough demand, I'll put up a more compressed version, but personally I think this game deserves all the graphic detail I can give it - even cutting it down to 4000kbps was hurting the quality noticeably.

If you like any of the music in this video, please go out and buy the album - you won't be disappointed.

And what is it? I know it's a replay file but what happens?

If you like any of the music in this video, ...

Did you think it was a 600MB replay file? http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Uh god no way http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif

Still, what the hell is it about? and why's it split into 4 when it's only 600mb?

DGCFBb_EADGC

Rapidshare has a 200MB file limit, so I had to split it. And I didn't put it onto a video streaming website because they either delete gaming videos or auto-detect the songs and mute it.

Amazing video, dude! http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
Great quality, great editing, great songs and the usual... great skills.

Speaking of skills, my 6yo nephew passed today all the easy levels with no help at all from his uncle. http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

Man that's an amazing video!

Creative , nice editing , funny ,full with skilled stunts!

The only thing i didn't like is quality.Personally i don't mind about the size of the file but i guess many people do.Maybe you could use a different codec for better quality with an accepted size.

Thing is there aren't any movies for t2se like this one, so i believe your effort was worth it!

I was speechless when i heard your voice at the end, you robot! http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

If you have any suggestions I'm all ears, I haven't done any videos in years so I don't know what's out there. I do still have the original 4.5GB uncompressed AVI file.

From memory, I used TMPGeng, 1024X640 60fps, MPEG-1 (MPEG-2 wouldn't let me change resolution http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif ), 2-8192kbps VBR w. 512k buffer, 256kbps audio (can't remember codec).

MKV or FLV (flash) offer the best quality to size ratio in my opinion but they're not widely supported yet. I would say reducing it to 25 fps (normal Pal fps) would help a lot.

Dropping to even 30fps looks terrible; the images are just not smooth between frames like real-life video is, and interlacing doesn't do much to help the situation.

rlmergeuser

A suitable codec for this job would be H.264 or as a second choice mpeg4 ,you could render a small part to see if the results are better.
Mkv and flv are containers , it doesn't really matter for quality.
A good choice for a t2se movie using H.264 is mp4(you could use mkv though).

Problem is from a quick test i did , i found fraps disappointing but probably it was my pc struggling to keep fps on a decent level with high settings.

Fraps needs a bit of extra performance, but you should be fine at lower resolution. I recorded all my youtube HD videos at 1280x768 using an old cheap *** Radeon 3850. Full HD (1920x1080) recording needs some serious graphics card muscle, but with the newest cards even Full HD should be easily doable at constant 60 fps.

Yeah FRAPS does hurt abit, I normally play at 1440X900 but dropped it to 1024X768 to get an almost constant 60fps while recording with all details on.

Any ideas of what sort of file size I should aim for if re-compressing?

That was probably the best fan-made film/teaser? I have ever seen http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif it felt like I was watching an animated Crusty Demons DVD. I really liked the part at 7:07 when he smashed his head lol.

Now that I have seen it I would say leave it like this but you could also upload a 100-200mb poor quality one for people who just want to see it then they can get the better quality one if they enjoyed it.
Another tip, try http://www.megaupload.com/ it has a 1gb upload limit, 60(?) second waiting time before download and (from my personal experience) you get less failed downloads from it with big files.

This is... umm... insane... http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif

I really couldn't imagine watching an 11 minute Trials video without getting bored, but with this, I wanted more. It's full of extraordinary skills and finished with amazing visual work. It also has a great soundtrack to go with it.

The quality of the video is perfectly adequate for me, but the audio sounds... well... incredibly distorted. The clipping just sounds bad, and I could imagine a bit of dynamic range adding a lot more impact where it's due.

Overall, I'm very impressed. I've watched it several times now and will, without a doubt, watch it several times more!

Good work! http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Hmmm... Both versions sound OK on my machine... I don't sense any clipping, although I agree I could have fiddled with the dynamic range a bit. Try using a different program in case your video player isn't picking up the audio correctly; VLC is definitely the best choice.

Wouldnt it be possible to put the vid(s) in a zip or .rar file to compress the size furthermore? or am I just noobtalking again.

Zipping / RARing video files that are compressed using a lossy video codec does very little, if anything at all. I won't bore you with the technical details, I'm sure you could find them if you're really interested in compression, but essentially no, I can't get them any smaller without decreasing the quality of the video.

I feel RapidShare is taking the piss.

For the whole of yesterday there were no download slots available so I went with the low-quality version which looks horrid stretched to full screen. Today I went back to RapidShare to download the higher quality video. Lo and behold, there was at least one slot available! However for a 200MB file the estimated download time was a whopping 30KB/s. With Mega Upload I was getting over 500KB/s and elsewhere I can get up to 1MB/s. This means that one section of the four-part video would take 80 minutes to download. It took three to download the LQ version from Mega Upload.

Oh, wait, as I stated there was a slot available. 64% through the very slow download there was an error thus it was cancelled. No I'm not using some crappy browser such as IE so if downloads fail I can request the rest of the file from the server. I forgot this was RapidShare and they don't allow this as you have to sit through the entire two minute wait before you can download. I'd very much like this to be uploaded to a non-sh*it hosting site so I can actually watch the HQ version this side of Christmas.

tl;dr
Anybody who's managed to download it upload it to somewhere else and post the link here pl0x.

Awesome, simply breathtaking. I bet it was a bit like this back in the day when people watched Mozart playing (or video-best-ofs of him).

Why this isn't on Youtube for easier distribution and to show all the THD kids where it's at goes beyond me though.

YouTube has automated detection of copyrighted content (specifically music) - so when I upload it, the entire audio track gets muted.

Please oh please upload this is as a torrent. For one no stupid speed limits or size limits. And two alot faster to download if alot people seeding. I always recommended Mininova but it listened to the stupid law. And deleted all torrents not upload by their "content distrubution" ****, I would try that first. Or maybe try the good old piratebay still strong and fighting stupid lawers every day! But of course you may have your own favorite. Will be waiting!

Too bad. I guess using some crappy copyright-free elevator muzak instead is not an option either...

Unfortunately I doubt torrent would be any better; it relies on having a dense swarm for getting a good number of high-speed connections. In this scenario it would essentially be you downloading off me instead of a server, and it would only be available at the times when I'm online and have my torrent program open. There's just not enough people to seed it and get the effectiveness out of the protocol.

No, because the entire video is edited in-time with the music; it's not just music dubbed over the top of a sequence of videos like most YouTube junk is... Plus then you'd miss the intentional puns in the song selection http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

Awesomely late response, but what the hell. YouTube has a fair-use policy in place, basically saying you can use copyrighted music for these kind of fan-made videos as long as you don't use the entire song. Surely you should be allowed to claim it's fair-use and stick it up on YouTube without them muting it, removing it or banning you.

You know, just a thought.
