Looks good, very nice missile crossover. Only thing that was a bit annoying was the jerkiness but I think u already know. Nice to see the F15 come out on top. Interesting choice of music, sounds familiar!

I wanna know how you managed to get the shot of the missile on the rail and followed it off the rail..........I've been trying to figure that out for a while.

why thank you good sir, ballbuster

rugg, its called F4 view. zoom in on hte missile, now slow down time loads, now follow the missile as it comes off the rails.

i think it may only be possible with FRAPS (but lts not go tehre)

its an excellent shot, but i dont really think you should go stealing otehr peoples shots http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

its my intellectual property... you can however 'homage' certain shots http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My opinion's worth no more than anyone else's. Just because I've made a few doesn't mean I have a clue... especially after six wasted weeks trying to test/learn new editor demos and failing to solve the capture issues with my AIW capture card :-)

Your stuff is good, showing a lot of effort and plenty of promise IMO. If you have a weak point it's a lack of "polish" to the editing. Hard to put a finger on exact details, but if you look at your movie and then, say, one like bsr.whatever's Unprovoked you might get an idea what I mean.

But then I'm a bit anal on the subject of "flow" in a movie, and it's very hard to make one scene connect nicely to the next either in terms of editing style (effects & soundtrack) or events. Often getting one right isn't enough... it's getting both right that hits the sweet spot and keeps the viewer engaged. Just wish I could do it :-)

Grief, reading that back I sound like a teacher now. At the end of the day as long as you enjoy making the movies and folk enjoy watching them, the rest is just opinionated drivel.

FWIW I'm not happy with *any* of my movies. But then I reckon the day you're entirely happy with your own work (of any kind) is the day you stop improving.

well its just that you gave me great feedback on my lst project.

yeah my roommate (non lomacer) says it lacked a bit of polish too. the next one im doin i will put more effort into, i just need to keep it original

when i was editing the video, it was always with an eye to the end (when the su33 impacts the ground and teh music reaches it, ahem, climax)

BSR.locsta(i think) does great work in a very unique style (though ive only watched his first work so far, the one with the jumpy editng, like a music video) i dont think i could go that fast in my editing style

i'm not happy with the film either. never am, like you. but then theres no such thing as the perfect movie so...
thanks for the feedback

after reading your post again, the bit about flow. i also believe that this is THE most important aspect of moviemaking. its all about camera angles IMHO, if you can follow one good camera angle on with another, then you have me hooked.

sometimes shots are good, but go on for FAR too long, this ruins the pacing, which again is very important. i think in my movie, the pacing is good and tight.

<rant>

as a real world example of pacing, watch the matrix reloaded (its sore saying it) car chase for an example of how NOT to do it. A lot of the angles in this chase are great, but there is no pacing, becaause at every possible interval the wachoski brothers decided to use extremely slow motion, which imho ruined the pacing

i think a car chase where the pacing is good is teh paris one in 'ronin'

</rant>

ahhh thats better http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I agree about the flow, the song in my current project is faster in some parts so I had to render more clips. It flows nice but what a pain!!!!! It's worth the extra effort though cuz when everything is right in the video it blows peoples minds. Just watched the one on the checksix website and although the storyline was simple (thats not a bad thing btw), it was a fantastic video. No wasted shots and you were interested in every frame that was being shown on screen. I've already watched it a couple of times, gonna go for 3 in a row after I finish posting this.

ty for the compliments http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I like your video raven cause I dig the "hand held" effect. My inspiration is all those sweet RL targeting videos that are always too short, and leave you hangin.
I also think timing is critical and the video must match the song choosen (no matter what it is.) I will usually start with the song and make a video to it. The versatility of the mission editor will allow you to create a mission for whatever kind of theme or mood you're goin for.
The biggest problem I'm having is that I like the russian jets better, but I don't speak russian. Makes accurate voice-overs difficult :P However, Unprovoked uses the in-game voices and they are all acurate. They will get over used soon though.
Thats my 2 cents.

TY Raven, it's the first Vid I ever made and I was learning how to use Main Actor as I went along. I can't believe that it took me 35 minutes to land 13 planes on the carrier for a shot that only lasted about 10 seconds. This next one is action packed, I think you'll see a marked improvement in my skillz.............lol.
