The photos were taken by the submitters father on Guam in 1945. The pics look like they were shot yesterday! The color and clarity is amazing on what must have been a very state of the art, expensive camera for 1945.

It reminds us that WWII was no far away black and white thing, but a real-life experience .

Imagine if all those WWII pics were in those qualities and clarity.

That guys and his camera stopped Time! Awsum is all I can say. I spend alot of time on that site there are some amazing pics on there, but I'd have to say these stirred my imagination the most of all.

Perhaps you'd be surprised to know that most American war journals were shot in color. Later they were copied to b/w to reduce the "realism level"... Take away the red blood, yellow flames etcetera before being shown to the public. So finding original films is a rare treasure indeed!

WOW...makes it look real and clear like never before. Often times I think WWII gets abstracted because of the black and white, often poor quality pictures...but THAT...is unbelievable.
