View Full Version : Luthier's & Maddox's intentions?

I wonder...

I know it's way too soon to say, but what are the intentions at the moment about future add-on's (Mediterranean at last?) and 3rd party models?

Apparently, the support to FB will soon come to an end. What about all the models being worked on at this moment? In case PF will accept any, will they necessarly belong to the PTO, or will it carry FB's heritage on?

Few words on these intentions (not sculpted in stone, we know...) would be highly apprecciated.

Airplanes are now built to carry a pilot and a dog in the cockpit: the pilot's job is
to feed the dog, and the dog's job is to bite the pilot if he touches anything...

Word is that Oleg will be accepting addons to FB for another 6-8 months if not more. PF will undoubtedly be supported post release (Luthier wants to continue a trend well established by Oleg and very much appreciated by the fans).

Indeed the "free addons" (not entirely free since we did sort of already pay for them) are part of the selling point for the games. I partially bought FB because I knew that a certain favorite aircraft was supposed to be implemented...I got a lot more than I expected but thats ok http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Finding the thread form 2 weeks ago in ORR would be a nightmare and I won't try. I will say however that Oleg himself posted saying that Malta will come later on the BoB engine, not the current one. I hate the extra wait, but for a good Malta.. I'll wait for the new engine.

IceFire, that's what I also knew until today.
Apparently (apparently...), things have changed.

I'd like to know what Luthier has to say, if anything.

Yes ARSNL, the Mediterranean has been "promised" by Oleg as the first new sim over the BoB engine, after BoB itseslf.
PF though, has potentialities in spades, and the Med or sort of is VERY much in the dreams of many customers. Given the purpose of PF itself (pushing FB to its own limits basically), it would be in its very nature to accomplish this expectation from the community, a good two years in advance to what Oleg will provide. There would only be stuff to add, and most of it coming from FB and the 3rd parties, after all: nothing big but the maps. It could be added within few months after PF becomes available.

What is Luthier's role in the development of the game?

He's the main developer (evrything but the code) together with 1C/Maddox (FB engine modifications), which in its turn is mainly involved in BoB at the time being.

Am I right?

What changed...and where?

There are ALOT of projects currently on the go and progressing very nicely because Oleg said go (Ju-88 is one that is virtually done amongst others). Obviously there has to be an end but it'd be very very unwise and terribly disappointing to more than just a few to have a date suddenly imposed that is in the near future. I know they have to run a business and I know they have to move along but when you develop a long term goal like has been done...you can't drop it without some kind of justification. Otherwise you risk alienation.

I'm still waiting paitently (most of the time) for the aircraft featured as part of my signature. The guy making it will finish it...but it takes time. The same goes for a number of other projects...to not see them come to fruition would be sorely disappointing.

BOB`s engine is a base for new generation of flight sims, that includes Med. Oleg mentioned on sukhoi.ru that they have plan for 7 years http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Yup...those have been in the ORR for about a week or two now and they have been stickied to the top so yes indeed nobody has broken any NDA's at all.
