I was continuing my campaign tonight after downloading the patch, and, either my gunnery has improved (not likely) or the F2 actually has had it's teeth sharpened. I actually set fire to an I-16 after only four bursts, and by the second burst it had some pretty big chunks missing. Very cool.

Secondly, any way to fix the sound? I keep losing my gun sound every so often. I gather this is a known problem.

I think so too. It seems that after some patch the 15mm got a little more punch or maybe the damage sytem of the flying beer can was tweaked.

No clue to your sound problem, sorry.

I recall some statements of the I-16 being uber or something. I think the "flying beercan's" damage model has been reduced.

As far as the F-2, and F-4 goes. I emptied my guns before making a P-39 burst into flames. Luckily he was simply caught vulching so as soon as my guns were empty I dropped trow, and landed.

Every take-off is optional, but every landing is mandatory!

Try setting hardware accelleration down one notch in the DX diagnostics program. It worked for me to set hardware accelleration to "Basic Accelleration"

Hope this helps.

Have flown a few more career missions the last couple of evenings and I'd say there has been a definite positive change.

Never, ever before have I knocked down aircraft in a 109f within about the same time as a WS equivalent. I even blew a couple of I-16's up completely in one attack run. Before, I would expend most of my ammunition on one plane easily. It's not just me; my AI wingmen are similarly more successful.

I'm very pleased. I personally like the balance, as before I didn't feel confident enough to really continue the campaing as the Luftwaffe, all because the F was so difficult to use successfully.

I was advised on his site not to use DX. So I don't, and use Aureal sound, as well. Much faster screen rates, better sound.

I've actually been surprised at the F2 lately too. I've managed to score some kills in it where as it didn't seem as likely before. The F4 has the 20mm so if I had my choice before that's the F model I chose. But there are those VEF missions where you fly what you're given and the F2 has been that plane. I used to dread it since I thought "I'll never down anything with this 15mm" but lately it does seem to have better hitting power.

Really? I'll have to try the F2 out. Normally, the F4 has been my favorite 109.

True. but it also depends on the adversary. The 15mm vs a laGG 3 or Yak 1 will have you expend all ammo unless you get a good hit.
