I bought th IL-2 Gold PACk YAY!!
SO now i install everything at once(includin ace). So do i still need to patch Forgotten Battles itself??
Are the new maps Normady, Ardenees, Pacific availabe in quick mission or only in multiplayer??
How come i cannot find some new planes from Ace like the B25 or tempest Mk.V in quick mission to use as enemy??
O and im kinda new to this game but i have played many Flight Sims. How come now when i turn the plane a little it just stalls even when i have a speed of 280++. this hapens in the P51 and Bf-109G10 and oithers too. What's wrong?

1) Forgotten Battles+Aces Expansion Pack = no patch needed (for the time being).

2) The only new map available in the Quick Mission Builder is a Pacific Map (Islands8); Ardennes, Normandy, etc, are available only in the Full Mission Builder.

3) The B-25 and the Tempest were omitted at the last minute from AEP, but the booklet says otherwise... wait for the patch (2 weeks http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )

4) You probably pull too hard/too fast.

1) You don't need to patch the game by now. Anyway, a new patch could be released soon. Stay alert. It will surely include a new plane (I-185)!

2) Neither Tempest nor B-25 are in the game yet. They're being developed. We'll see them in future patches and/or add-ons.

3) In FB, FMs are very well modelled, although they're not perfect. But stalling is normal if you turn too fast in an energy fighter such as those. It is called 'high speed stall' and it is induced by drag, and inertia physics: one of the wings gains speed as the other just loses it. The wing that loses speed stalls and you can enter in a spin. Also, if you pull the elevators too rudely, you can slide and break the flow of air around your wings, causing a stall at high speeds.

My advice is to learn to fly smoothly and safely, with calculated movements, or simply lower the reality level of flight model in the difficulty settings.

(Sorry for double posting. I cannot delete the former)

On the stalls thing:

The term "Stall Speed" causes misconceptions. Stalls happen when the angle at which the wing meets the air (angle of attack) reaches or exceeds a critical angle. The angle varies with wing design, but for a give wing is very close to the same at all speeds.

As you increase speed, you need less angle of attack to maintain enough lift to fly, as you slow down you need more. Stall speed is the speed at which the angle of attack required to maintain lift in level flight reaches/exceeds critical angle for that wing design.

You can reach stall angle of attack at any speed by pulling suddenly or pulling too far on the joystick. The slower you're going, the easier stalling is with small joystick inputs.

You also need to be aware that the speed bar (red numbers in the lower left corner) is in km/h, not mph or knots. 280km/h is only 175mph, not very fast for most of the aircraft in this game.

... and do (in-game) a Hardware Setup - Input
You will see sliders there - make them go from lower left to upper right for all three axis (they are probably all all the way up).
Look at the red and green blocks to the left to see the response...

IZT, welcome. The posts above answer your questions, and Tully's explanation of the stall/spin characteristics is excellent. Stalls at this speed (280km) are unusual for most of the a/c in this sim; but you have to keep the nose down in low speed turns.

Like you, I've owned and flown most of the WWII sims over time, and this one is demanding. But don't give up. With a little practice, unintended stalls/spins will disappear, and landings/takeoffs become second nature. IMO, this is the most rewarding sim available in this respect. Good luck.

Stall speed increases with bank angle. At 60 degree bank angle it is 100% more than in level flight.

Nope. These peeps are the BEST! There's more complaining here than I've seen on any other board, but the lead developer at least interacts with us from time to time, and our complaints actually bring changes to this game/sim. People that complain about things here are USUALLY knowledgable about what they say. We fight with each other over flight models, placement of rivets in the cockpit, the roll-rate of the P-47 . . . and immediately bend over backwards to help each other when we are having trouble.

Yup.
Just like home.
