give the planes Bumpmapping, glow reflections and higher textures for the planes. that and the new water shaders will make this game like a movie or something

I don't know anything about coding, but I think that sort of thing requires a reworking of the engine at a fundamental level. It's too much work for a patch, even an expansion. Besides, they're adding all that to the BoB engine, making it fully DX9, etc.

I'm from the old wire-frame school of graphics, so i think FB's graphics are pretty nifty http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

meybe... but they got the water with shaders, so why not make planes with shaders, and bumpmapping, its hard, but it will pay off

Can I get a "Wait 'till BOB?"

It's far too late to modify the FB engine, with PF nearing completion and FB already released and graphically stable. Maybe the next generation of flight sims will have said features, but you gotta remember that bump mapping in an FPS is less intensive than the same in a flight sim. Sims have much higher detail levels and are generally harder on computers. Whereas DooM3 or HL2 are designed to run on half decent computers with good detail levels and moderate resolution, you really need a hot rod to do the same in a flight sim.

Too bad you can't see super plane grafix while actually flying the sim. Too bad you can't tell the difference between current airplane grafix and future airplane grafix because the target plane is too far away, like 200 meters.

Imagine if the high framerate grafix tech that renders our large and bulky Kuban mountains and their detailed textures were applied to Air Combat Clouds...

Effects for the pilot

Very Stable Atmosphere
Cloud Either none or layered stratus
Precipitation None in clear skies, potential widespread drizzle or light rain under stratus
Visibility Deteriorating in haze under clear skies, or poor in any drizzle under stratus
Winds Light if high pressure close, stronger if low pressure nearby
Turbulence Probable in stronger winds on the lee of hills, or under any inversion boundary present

Very Unstable Atmosphere
Cloud Large vertical cumulus or towering cumulus http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif
Visibility Excellent. Pollution is carried into higher atmosphere
Precipitation Sudden heavy showers, often seen and avoided
Winds Stronger, with dangerous gusts near towering cumulus
Turbulence Likely under any cloud, dangerous near towering cumulus

We are careful not to fly too close to the mountains--what few we have http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

What flight sim will be The First to give us a reason not to fly into very large cumulus clouds?

Can't find it but there was a Bizzaro thread at netwings about how Oleg's next BoB will require only full time employed professional grafix artists to create aircraft models and cockpits. Even Gibbage posted he will not touch BoB (already working elsewhere full time).

However, in support, increasing aircraft grafix does not hurt performance much because you only see other aircraft in less detail because they are far away...more than 100 meters usually...

...but that just confirms the fact that you won't *see* any increased aircraft grafix except for static screen shots or zoomed in External views which means you are not paying attention to the sky and enemy and you are not playing the game. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif However, Polygons make a big splash in the gaming review magazines.

if you have played Farcry you will se somthing cool, things that are close have high detail and things far away have low detail, basic... all i want bumpmapping is for cockpit and your own plane, BUUUT the lightning is more important thing, if you look at the ships they are to bright and no shadows. fix that and i pay 70$ for the game

geez

some math lol

A big skin now is 1024x1024x256 = 1 MByte
Any added option like bump map etc will at least add 1MByte per option too

I fear this will not happen as long as the skin files are uncompressed..

We need JPG instead of BMP first !

Question: Did you back-up your files?
Answer: I didn't know they had a reverse...
