Talking about AAA here. When you attack land- based anti-aircraft, you can blow them up with some well placed shots. Shouldn't you be able to do the same with ship-based AAA guns, or is this to complicated for the DM? I would think this would be fairly easy based on the fact that you can take out individual turrets on bombers. Those ships are "flak cities" and don't stop shooting till you sink them!

Just a thought,

Willy

see thread on 1C's forthcoming releases; certainly planned for PF, though effect of strafing ships is limited in AEP.

Individual turret damage is currently modelled in FB AEP. Set up two opposing ships in the FMB and let them slog it out to see this in action.

As to attacks from aircraft, I'm not so sure how easy it is to inflict the necessary damage to knock the turrets out.

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - G√ľnther Rall

In 2.0 the MK108 and 103 could sink the small torpedoboats (after a couple of hits)

Thanks bazzah2, I didn't see that! Hope they bring that over to FB. I realize you can't take out a armoured 5" gun turret (or larger) with machine guns (bomb, yes). However, you should be able to strafe and knock out the smaller (20mm and or machine gun) more exposed positions.

Any gun 40mm or less will be in an open mount with a fully exposed crew vulnerable to fire. Larger AA capable guns (100mm to 130mm) are likely to be found in "turrets". But it is worth noting that most of these secondary "turrets" were often simply mild steel gunhouses primarily intended to shelter the guncrews from the weather and were vulnerable to heavier caliber AP. For example, a high-velocity (2800fps MV) 20mm AP could be expected to penetrate 10-15mm of homogeneous plate @ 30 deg inclination at 600 yards range.
