I also suffer from the infamous Black Screen problem that is occurring in AC4. I opened a ticket and then got asked what my PC specs are. After I sent my specs, all I received was silence.

All I want to do is play the game I bought weeks ago.

So I am just going to leave my ticket information here and let it simmer: (00955422)

"At startup, directly after the "Inspired by historical events..." message the screen fades to black and doesn't continue. The only way to close it is to alt-tab or ctrl-alt-del. This happened after I updated AC4. This seems to be a popular problem on the forums. Some suggest deleting the DataPC_patch.forge file, this works, but then other problems in-game arise. Such as hint messages displaying incorrectly. Others suggested that it's a South African problem and one must install a VPN or Proxy. Some say you must create another user account under Windows. Is there any official way to solve this problem? May this be fixed in a future patch?"

I post this in as many help topics I see, where it helped me ( o some degree)
Trying to get help from Ubisoft is pretty much a no-go. Every sentence that contains crash or black screen seems to be automatically ignored.

Sadly these options only got me to around 50% where it just keeps crashing whatever route I take (different routes sometimes help, or rushing quests, yeah it's amazing, constantly playing against the clock)

I agree fully - I have read many guys having the same "Black Screen" problem and I have not seen one solution being provided. I have installed, re-installed, verified files etc. Nothing works.
