I've made the diagrams below based on information from Eric Brown's "Berühmte Flugzeuge der Luftwaffe 1939-1945". As I understand it, Brown was a RAF test pilot, but my copy of the work is in German. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif This interesting reference provides several detailed and labeled cockpit and cutaway diagrams. Instead of stealing from his work by simply scanning the diagram, I've labeled screenshots to show the parts relevant to Oleg's amazing and highly debated representation.

For now I've left the descriptions in German, I'm halfway through a translation. Hopefully we'll have some volunteers correct it for me. I wanted to post this earlier today, but haven't been able to log in for many hours. Thought it might still be interesting even before the translation.

Has anyone done this for the new Japanese aircraft? Would be extremely useful.

Number 20 (Bet¤tigungsknopf für Bürstenabhebung) sounds like Kurt Tank's wife had a hand in the design. "Kurt you can sweep the runway clean whilst taking off and then you can pull in the brush with this button!"

Translated it basically says: "Operating button for brush removal"

Nice job so far and yes this would be good for the Japanse aircraft, no infact all aircraft!

Holy moly Babelfish is good! Almost everything is spot on, with just a few minor errors e.g. the English "not" was translated into "emergency" but should remain as "not"

10, FUG should remain as that and not be translated as "Join" as it is an acronym. Zielflugenzeige I guess should read Zielfluganzeige = Course indicator

21. is friend or foe recognition system

25. Rumpf isn't really trunk it's more like the main bit of the fuselage underneath.

26. Doppeldruckmesser = Double pressure meter.

32b) (currently labeled 32) Messstellenumschalter für Kraftstoffvorratsmessung = a switch to change the measuring position of the (remaining) fuel gauge.

etc. I'm sure someone else will translate the whole list so I won't bother but as I said most of it is spot on.

20) operating knob for brush removal (?)

Well I'm not sure about this but at least 109s had a system for cleaning crust from spark-plugs. Position near fuel valves/switches points to this too.
