Am I the only one who found virtually every line he spoke of pure gold?

"Captain Pissoff"

"It ain't work if its fun"

"Don't soil your drawers lads, I've got this"

"No sir, I stole it off a corpse that was walking about and talking ****e to my face just moments before."

"Are you jealous? Is mine bigger than yours?"

"Posh git, what's he up to?"

Great job Darby. I found the general dialog quality to be upped significantly from AC3.

I agree, Edward had a lot of memorable lines. And just as you said i too feel like the dialog was way better then ac3. A lot more interesting and intertaining, but the pirate theme could have something to do with that.

Probably a lot I agree, so I think it'd not be fair to slate AC3 for that but I still felt AC3 was a little bland dialogwise, even accounting for the fact that that era was not the most colourful and the potagonist didnt have as jolly a life as Eddy here.

Lol loved the bit when Edward first sees Thatch and Honigold and they're screaming at a poor British soldier haha

"I'm right on your heels sh*tbird" - Edward, during the first mission chasing Duncan Walpole

I loved James Kidd's lines too.

I loved James Kidd's lines too.

That wasn't when he was chasing Walpole. That was when he was chasing the man that robbed Stede Bonnet.

Also, one of my favorite lines is when he says "You lot, weigh anchor! The rest of you, half at the foremast and half at the main. Let's outrun this hurricane!"

Lastly, another good one was when Stede though Edward was going to have an issue with aforementioned robber "Oh that filch was no fuss!"

Good stuff, good stuff

I agree, his lines are great! Not only his, but from most characters in the game as well.
They all feel so... alive.

Although all his funny lines are brilliant, I absolutely love the short Caroline moments. It's so easy to forget his more vulnerable side so to speak seeing as you easily get lost pirating.

I also love ths one:

"I hope you found a lasting peace... down there among the dead."

Gives me chills every time I hear it.

Ah..that's right. This is a good reminder that I need to do another play-through :)
I don't think anybody can forget the speech Blackbeard gives to Edward and Stede...pure gold.

Edward - "looks fine"
Blackbeard - "Course it does"

That line is to Edward what 'Requiescat in Pace' is to Ezio.

I like Hornigold's rant with the Spanish guy.

*Hornigold give instructions*

*Spanish guy only speaks Spanish*

"Does anyone on this damn ship speak English? InglÚs?"

*Other Spanish guys raises hand* "Li...little bit."

*Hornigold gives instruction to attentive nodding Spanish guy.* "You got that? Tell them."

*guard looks up at him nervously* "P..pp....Please to repeat?"

*Hornigold stunned* "OH for Christ's sake...."

Yeah, I generally thought the dialogue in AC4 was a lot better than AC3. Less of the mechanical "here's my backstory" stuff than its predecessor.

I don't know the exact line, but during the Templar Hunt mission in Havana, he tells the Assassin that the treasure he's after won't fit her, depleting her interests.

That line, was amazing. As was that mission, just for the atmosphere for it.

I know you're no stranger to a man's boots Rhona, but this one wouldn't fit you.. or something like that.

I also liked how the Kingston bureau leader was like.. Edward, you've returned, finally you've found your conscience. And Edward was like.. I'm here for my key!

Would you believe that's my message tone for my cell phone? XD

Indeed. That made me laugh pretty hard the first time I saw it. I also like Blackbeard's expression when Edward mentions... Torres I think? and says "He's a Templar" and Blackbeard said "I knew his name, didn't know he had a title"

Just the tone of Blackbeard's VA was pretty incredible there.

"Right. I've offended you. I'm gonna go." - in the Tanio Templar Hunt mission, the first one. The animation gestures during that line are awesome too.

"He drinks damnation" - :(

*Bonnet sneaks up by crouching and running up to the guards*

"Bonnet! What are you doing?!"

*scurries back*

"I believe they have spotted me!"
"Right! I think perhaps we should split up!"

"Best idea you've had all day mate."

I agree Edward and co have some classic lines, its interesting to see what a difference a protagonist with personality makes to a game.

Yes, but he drops the f bomb and tells the guy he'll "fill it with shot."

My favourite line, the one that literally made me laugh out loud, was after one mission where he turns to James Kidd and says:

"Well, I guess I lost two men today."

pirate1802
12-13-2013, 06:20 PM
ahaha yeah, how did I forget that one.

"You're not a man, are you?" accompanied by that look on his face.

"Hey, how is it that you're a woman??" Mary: "Christ Edward, do I have to explain it?"
