So, yeah, who is this guy? It seems he was a sage, as seen in the entry "The Observatorie" and a few others.

But he says he was born in 1652 and is writing these notes that we find in bottles during 1706. However, we know that Bartholomew Roberts was the sage at this point. So at one point, I wondered, are both the same person? After all, this guy seems to have associated Torres as well.

Then I looked up Robert's real history, and found that he was Welsh and his realname was John Roberts, and as such can't be Thom Kavanaugh from Boston.

So at this point, I'm pretty confused. He doesn't seem to be a real person from history like Bartholomew Roberts was either. Who is he? Can two sages exist at once? Was Aita not the only one turned into a sage?

Get all the letters, and it will be explained.

But, they are the same. All sages are reincarnations of Aita, Juno's husband. It occurs at random, and that means there could be multiple walking the Earth at the same time. Won't tell too much in case you prefer finding the letters. :) But once you do, read the updated "The Sage" entry.

A little more info here: http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Aita

Alright, thanks. I'll go ahead and collect the remainder first, then.

Idea of "reincarnation" is lost if there are multiple copies alive at the same time, though. Then they're basically no better than clones of Aita who possess his original memories.

It's not just the original memories. Every rebirth's memory are known to all the "reincarnations".

So that's why it's very fractured for him.

I know that there's a letter that says two can exist in the same decade and the person that says that "doesn't know why."
