View Full Version : Compass without the radar?

It would have been very cool if we could have a compass without having the modern radar too. I would love to sail just by having a map by my side and a compass. And who came up with the idea to make the in game map look like something from a spaceship? A typical old and used looking navigator map would add so much more to the style of that age.

regarding the map see post number 4

I am 100% with you. Unfortunately they are trying to stay "true" to the AC roots. I would have loved to have an actual hand charted map on parchment when I press TAB rather than the current one. This could have been the most authentic pirate game had they just made the art direction and a bit of game play a little more cohesive.

Could you imagine charting your own route on the parchment map and then using your compass to follow that navigation route? Amazing.

Yes, absolutely.

I am thinking about making such a map by myself for professional printing, something like 100x100 cm. The problem is, we don't have a compass without the radar. Ideal would be a simple non intrusive compass with constantly updated long and lat data of your position below it. I even have the printed map from the official game guide, but this map is not only too small, it is also way too dark and looks more like a satellite image. Not really the style for the pirate age.

This is the map I am working on right now.
Any suggestion about what locations I should include?
