View Full Version : Announcing the release of "The Legend of Y-29"

In the early morning or New Year's Day, 1945, as the last great German offensive in the Ardennes slowly smoldered to an end, the Luftwaffe launched a suprise attack simultaneously on all the forward Allied tactical airfields.

Synchronized to strike at 0920 hrs.... Their objective was to reduce the effectivness of Allied fighter-bombers by destroying them on the ground.

At some bases the Luftwaffe attack is devastation... destroying aircraft and rendering airstrips useless.

At other fields only a few fighters find their targets... and damage was minimal.

But at Y-29 near Asch Belgium the result was... unlike anything the Luftwaffe had imangined.

It's at OberstWiley's site, but it's down for the moment. They restarted the machine yesterday for maintenance and the Apache server hasn't been restarted yet, I'll bug someone tomorrow and I bet it'll be up again by tomorrow for download.

Cheers,
Mike

not bad from what I've seeon so far. BUT, there is an error in it. the attacking germans apparently ran into a formation of around 8 Thunderbolts either before or over the target.

The size of the movie should be 53.1mb and should be 10:35 long. Although he is going to release a second version soon, which will be slightly edited, and perhaps larger in size. Dunno, will wait to see what he releases.

Well, after watching it, JR realised that he had forgotten a couple of things, so that is why it may seem slightly incomplete. He is doing a recut, and will add the missing footage/details.

there is no error in it, my story's about the 487th F/S not the 390th or 391st which were the P-47's involved. the "Legend" is about the 487th which earned the only Distinguished Unit Citation given to a fighter squadron in the European Theater of Operation, and even if the P-47 were instrumental in allowing the 487th into the air, i didn't want to "add" complexity of characters

it ends with a Fw-190 skipping across the ground and exploding. i have it recut and encoded in DiVX - it's now 99.8 MB and 11:14

The server is now back up, was far more hassle than I expected. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif But that has absolutely nothing to do with OberstWiley or the movie. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

At least, it was working earlier today. Now it's not responding, and I can't work out what's wrong by myself, so it looks like another day of delay. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif

I'll post links when everything seems to be ready.

The problem I am getting is a time-out, or that it takes a very long time to follow any link in the site. I suppose the problem could be that the maximum number of requests has been timed out. If this is the case, then theoretically people should still be able to use the server later, although I have never experienced this problem before.

Just in case the problem "fixes" itself, here is a direct link to the movie:

Announcing the release of "The Legend of Y-29" Directors cut

Both movies - the low res wmv version and the higher res DiVX directors cut are now up on wiley's site

see them at http://pauke.ee.ethz.ch:8732/oberstguncam/Frameset/index2.htm

for now it's listed as newest on the front page, otherwise click on movies on the left and scroll down.

after paying an additional $40 in BW overages because of this project I want to make sure all of you understand just how generous and essential the help we get from Wiley, Michampa, Viper at VWC, and a few others is. without them very few of us would ever get to see any of theses.
