I'll be getting both an Xbox One and PS4 but would prefer to play the game with the best resolution. If they're both 1080p I'll go with the XB1 version as I prefer the controller. Just wondering if anyone can confirm what it's in as everywhere seems to be guessing right now.

No official words has been shared on the XBO version. Wouldn't be surprised if it was stuck with 900p tbh.

The X1 operates at 720p, not 1080p.

Ergo, the 1080p resolution will only be on the PS4. The X1 will get the anti-aliasing feature that is included in the PS4's 1080p patch though.

Some games like Forza are 1080p and not just upscaled.

PS4 isn't 1080p either though is it? I thought X1 was 720p and PS4 was 900p for most games.... or something like that.

No it doesn't..

Both can do 1080p. XBO just doesn't have as many with native 1080p as the PS4 (yet).

Oh, my mistake then. It was just the impression I got from COD. Ryse seems to run at 900p though, so that's a little bit better.
E - Good point about Forza too. That's a native 1080p.*

Regardless, the 1080p thingio for ACIV will still only be applicable for the PS4 version.

But you are right - most are 900/30. :) The developers of Forza even said the only reason it CAN run at 1080/60, is because of the cloud services. So I guess most will not be more than 900p upscaled.

Xbox One will be upscale'd to 1080p or 900p, but it doesn't go much higher than 900p, because 720p is still 720p regardless of upscale. For controller-wise, I have always prefer PlayStation controllers, because for games like Assassin's Creed, I don't have to take my finger off of the analog just to press the D-pad. I can use my left index finger to reach the D-pad without interruptions. For Xbox-wise, I gotta stop moving and then press the D-pad when I'm playing AC.

This.

Also, AC4 on Xbox One is 720p now, but when it actually releases tonight there's probably going to be a patch to change it to native 900p or something, just like the ps4 upgraded with a patch. Both consoles were rushed to release sooner than next year, so we kind of have to deal with that for a little bit. (a couple months)

I'm just wondering how much beautiful AC5 would be on the next gen consoles XONE & PS4 ! ! ! ! ! also how much beautiful the game is if they create new engine for AC5! ! !

I'm not sure they're going to create a new engine for AC5. Maybe tweak it a little. We'll probably see this one for a couple more games but obviously improved a lot.

The moment Ubisoft stops making PS3/X360 games (which is likely after the next AC - so after 2014), I could imagine they would "build a new" engine (not from scratch - but seeing as PS4/XBO/PC can be devloped via the same engine now, with obviously some additions to the PC version as it can stuff the consoles can't - they likely over some time rebuild it/clean it up - so they can improve performance, which has always been an issue with AC, which luckily got better in AC IV.)

While they still support it, there's no/little point (besides the fact that it's stupid to change engine often). They said what held them back was the uncertainty around the PS4/XBO, which is what all third party (and to some degree first party) launch titles suffer from. They don't know what they are dealing with spec-wise.

XBO/PS4 version of AC IV is made with their PC engine according to an interview released some time ago.

But yeah, next one will look even better on PS4/XBO - and if it will be on PS3/X360, too, which is very likely due to how the industry works - it will look close to AC IV on those, maybe slightly better because they manage to improve some parts of their engine.

No one denied the PS4 is a stronger gaming console. XBO does multitasking better, though.

But they are gaming consoles, you buy it to play games :) next gen should NOT be 720p. That was this gen.

Xbox One is marketed as an entertainment system, not just a gaming console. :) Not picking sides (Hell, I will get a PS4, not XBO), simply stating the XBO isn't focused on gaming in the same way as the PS4 is. That's both good, and bad.

And sure - but they should also be 60fps - which isn't going to be a standard either for any of them anytime soon.
