View Full Version : An idea for a future Assassin's Creed Setting: Woodstock

Hello,

Yesterday night, while I was thinking what I'd like to see in an upcoming AC game, this idea popped into my head and the more I think about it, the more appealing it becomes for me. I was going to write this on AC forum, but all sub-forums are about the released games, so here we are. I'd love to hear what you think. by the way I haven't played the AC4 so some parts of what I write might be inaccurate. but the main idea should hold. needless to say this message is one huge block of spoilers for anyone who haven't played the games.

(also, days before the announcement of Revelations, I was thinking "the italian are so lucky, I wish there was an AC game that took place in istanbul", so I'd like to think that I'm on the same page with the script writers :))

first of all, as each game incrementally gets closer and closer to the current date, there's eventually going to be a story that will be set in the 20th century. and since the artefacts have played their role in resurrecting / awakening Juno, the quest of the assassins can shift to another purpose, such as unfolding a certain event in the history of Abstergo. so there is an opportunity for exploration.

secondly, the woodstock festival would be an incredible setting for stealth mechanics. It's basically 3 days of rain and a crowd of 500K people. It can introduce a whole new set of stealth techniques. kissing someone nearby for disguise/to hide your face?

also, given the amount of people who've been to the festival, it's very easy to justify that an ancestor of the test subject had been there, too. it might even be the past of the same individual in the device, such as william miles having memory loss and thus they are trying to recreate his own memories through animus. he's born in 1948, which makes him 21 years old during woodstock. I think it fits him perfectly. we might even see how he met desmond's mother!

thirdly, the most impressive aspect of the AC games for me have always been the way they integrate real figures into a fiction at this level. so I'd like to see how Jimi Hendrix or the Rolling Stones appear in the game and how they interact with the story. making them a part of the order would be too cheesy, perhaps, but I'd like to see them help the main character in the name of peace and freedom :).

and my last point would be brief yet among the most appealing (for me): the outfit. We've seen the stoic robe theme, several renaissance themes, the roman, the ottoman (ishak paşa), the mohawk... I want to see how a hippie assassin suit works out!

Anyway, I know that it's a long shot but I was too excited about the idea that I had to share. As I said I'd like to hear what you think because I really think that it's full of opportunities for new game mechanics. Such as - though I highly doubt if it would be appropriate - new items, which use psychedelics for distractions. Hallucination inducing "magic darts" instead of poison darts, that will make the guards attack random people near by?

If there's even a .0001% chance that you're serious... the Simpsons already spoofed this.

And the Rolling Stones weren't at Woodstock.

Even Walter White, the king of bad ideas, thinks it's a bad idea.

lol, ok i guess she won.

my friend and i saw this and made a bet on whether or not someone would link this image within the first 24 hours, if we wrote a seemingly genuine post suggesting a hippie themed ac game. i'll admit it got long though, it was fun to elaborate :P

Our New Assassin's Creed Band of Heroes performing at Woodstock under cover,
their hidden blades are hidden in their Pockets!
For some reasons, I believe that Janis and Hendrix were the Templars
