Okay, I did have this wacked but it can't get it working. How can I go to the gunner view and "fly" the plane at the same time?

Cheers,

In the gunner view, all your flight controls work the same. Just fly as usual, but if you are in a rear gunner position stuff will be all reversed so remember that.

Basically: You can't! But there are several other things that can help you:
I take it that you're talking about flying online since this is not really a problem offline where the AI takes the pilots seat.
When flying a big bomber (He 11 or TB 3) online try using the "level autopilot" it's a key that isn't assigned so you'll have to configure your controls. This will keep your plane steady on course, at least for a shorter time. Turning, bombing or anything like that you'll still have to do yourself.
In smaller a/c (IL2, BF 110, JU 87) there is no level automization so youll have to change betwwen the seats quite often to prevent running into the ground. If external view is allowed by the server you can also just switch to that when in the gunners seat, this will give you control of the plane and turn gunner on AI as long as you stay "outside"

Cheers people.

I actually fly offline as I enjoy the campaigns. Is there a way I can move the aircraft as a "pilot" whilst manually aiming the rear gunner?

I really do appreciate this.

Hey all

the_pool_guy [nice name]

There IS a way to do this offline. It involves going into the control settings. You have to assign a key to something like *bombsight automation* or *autopilot automation*

Whatch the He111 ariel gunnery track. That tells you.

Hope it helps.

It has nothing to do with bombsight automation, that is something different. You want to assigne the level autopilot. When offline click the button and it will say Autopilot Automation off and thats when you can jump to a gunner postion and fly at the same time. I do this alot in my HE111. Enjoy and have fun. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Turning off autopilot automation stops the game from automatically enabling/disabling autopilot when you leave/enter a certain crew position. Do this to stop the game from turning on the autopilot when you switch to the gunner position.

yep thats how its done. its also nice for online night bombing missions. if you dont do that all the gunners open fire as soon as they see an enemy, but if they hold thier fire you can sneak on buy! BUHAAAAAAAA HA HA HA!!!! then bomb thier base and they wont be none the wiser!!
ok I am better now!
