Random encounters are needed to make an open world sandbox game fun, as seen in GTA5 and especially RDR. In the open sea, there are tons of these encounters, like pirate ships fighting spanish galleons, sinking ships for you to scavenge before the time runs out, and more, but they did not really do well in the cities and on land.

1. I LOVE the "save the pirate" encounters, but I am really annoyed that they can only be done when your crew isn't filled to capacity. They should ALWAYS be available, with small rewards each. I mean, some of them you do get money rewards already. And in the beginning of the game, you could encounter these events without even having gotten the Jackdaw yet! They make every location so much more fun, and I really think they should update or program it so that these events can happen regardless of whether or not your crew is filled. i dont even need a reward for them. The experience is enough. This is something they can do right??is this something that, if we rally and appeal for enough, they could put in in an update?

2. In future games, they should focus on more "subtle" random encounters like in RDR, like giving medicine to an injured guy, saving a woman being harassed, chasing Down a thief. Not every encounter has to get the guards involved.

What do you think of these ideas, particularly the first one?

I vote for something inbetween "Meh" and "YES!". I'd like it, but I'm not "YES!" level excited about it.

привет!!! Voted yes definitely yes and it should happen mostly while free-roaming since during some missions configuration (tail that dude) it could ruin it

Ai radiant events potential scenarios (Cities) - Save that girl, pirate's brawling, help pirate & thief, convoy robbery, attack and rob the treasury, rescue that rich citizen, catch that thief for me, rob that chest for me, play that throwing knife game with me, protect my home for me, find my daughter captured by pirates, stole that item book, the jewel for me, start a riot for me, escort me in the street, deliver my son or my father from jail, deliver those slaves before owner sales them, help that merchant to get rid of concurrences. prevent people to get expulsed from homes, catch the tax collector for money, for Tavern events: Drinking challenge, dance with a that girl, pirates brawling, save that girl, + mini - game arm wrestling contest, Five Fingers fillet challenge, and Tarot games.

I have some more but the list there is already long

AGREED. I mean, it's fun to just freen run around the city after beating the game but other than intentionally fighting the guards and replaying memories using different outfits...there's not much more to do.

I've always wanted things like this in the series. Spiderman 2 had things like this both during the main story and after when everything is done. There were angry, road rage folks; bank/armored car robbers escaping in a car that you had to chase down; people about to fall off buildings; shootouts with police; people injured who have to be taken to the hospital; child's balloon floating up that you have to catch and bring down to him before it pops; women being mugged and having their purses stolen; etc. etc.

They were completely optional if you didn't feel the mood to do them...why not have this in AC? They already have similar things for when your notoriety is up: tearing down wanted posters, paying off speakers, assassinating...people (I forget who but they'd knock off like 75% of your notoriety in ACB and ACR I believe), etc.

The only random encounters I can think of are the thieves in ACB and ACR and the like...gangs that will ambush you occasionally in ACB. But I wish there were more "rescuing citizens" like in AC1 but that they never end after completing a set amount.

So in other words:

YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES!!!

Just copy what RDR did, no one would complain.

Do what RDR did. That game presented you with moral dilemmas that were totally optional, and you really had to make a decision if it was worth doing or not.

Yeah I especially agree with your 2nd idea. Those sort of things that just add to the immersion are awesome and I love random events. I mean they are very limited with chasing the couriers but they aren't very interesting.

No come dude:p, we were referring to the random encounter events themselves, not the morality system.

Independent of a system that tracks your morality, having those types of choices in gaming that make you actually feel something (in-game implications or not) are extremely powerful and important for a realistic world.

Yes independent of a system that tracts morality, and in AC4 they will be really welcome just for the fun of it and for more immersion while free-roaming

So there are still no actual land-based dynamic encounters, beside saving pirates? M would be laughing right now.

All ubisoft has to do is make it so that the pirate encounters can happen all the time! Easy! Come on UBISOFT LOOK AT THIS THREAD!

Yes, but it is not the same way that RDR implanted them in game, and they are implanted on the same spawning point and honestly; after "saving the pirates" it is pretty much the only one that occurs, and it just happens when you need dudes in your crew - People above and I were referring to those event for a larger scale, random spot and varieties.

The crazy thing is they don't even have to program dynamic encounters like they do with the ships. They could just have different enemies cross paths once in a while, but that rarely ever happens on land. Also, seeing other ships dock and leave their ship would be interesting. Seeing a Spanish ship set dock and a few of them enter an island with British or mercenary sailors and that writes itself. The funny thing is there's an assassination contract where a boat has to be on the island, so after accepting the mission, a ship drives up to the island and docks where the Jackdaw usually does, and the Jackdaw is actually driven forward by your quartermaster to make room for the target's ship. If that A.I. is there I don't see why they don't take advantage of it. Each game simply feels like a few small steps forward when they could easily go for the leap.

Yep, but it would be nice if they could introduce a bit more variant in the random events as well

Yep you are right, that too will have make a bit of difference....let's hope they implant some in an update or a DLC (?)
