Does anyone else get confused at the whole fleet organizing thing? Its so complicated compared with the ease and simplicity of AC Brotherhood's assassin groups.

Anyone got any simply tips on how to best set up and use your fleet?

The whole thing lol ! :(

So to salvage a ship means to get rid of one in there right? Cause to me salvage means to repair, here I was thinking it was going to repair one and it friggen disappeared!

Also how many ships can you add to Ed's fleet?

you board ships and capture them. You then have the option to send it to your fleet. You can salvage the ships you captured or salvage the ships from your fleet for gemstones. Gemstones are required for purchasing docks, which in turn lets your fleet hold more ships. Gemstones are also required to repair your ship when you send your ships out in a battle to make the route less dangerous for naval missions.

does anyone know how you get more firebarrels to use in your fleet battles??

by doing more battles. Some battles only give you 1 barrel and some battles give you none. The fire barrels used in fleet battles are not the ones you have on your ship so you can't go around buying fire barrels or attacking ships with the Jackdaw to get firebarrels. You just have to do more fleet battles to get them, and they usually reward them to you when you battle in a "treacherous" or "dangerous" route. Fire barrels are not that common so use them wisely and don't waste it on schooners/gunboats. Save them for man o war fleet battles or as a last resort when your fleet is low on health. Any other time, just let your ship battle back and forth. You'll eventually win and just have to repair your ships with gemstones that they reward you after the battle. If you need more gemstones, just go out on your Jackdaw and board a bunch of ships and send it to your fleet. And then instead of sending it to your dock, just salvage it for gemstones, they usually give you 100 plus gemstones

You can also get Fire Barrels by helping ( speeding up, repairing) your friends ships! This is way better than battles because it gives at least 3 barrels per helping act!
