I'm about to buy a new joystick, and I've seen both on sale at www.gameplay.co.uk (http://www.gameplay.co.uk). The 3D Gold is 10 cheaper. Not sure which is the better joystick, though. I expect there are people here who have owned both, can you help me decide?

I am really happy with the 3D Gold, and at that price is a steal.

Haven't tried the other but I think that it's just newer not necessarily better, plus I prefer the throttle lever a bit on the side.

You can use the 10 towards the add-on... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I've got the 3D Platinum, which looks almost identical to the gold and, for the price, I'm very happy with it.

I had to replace a Saitek Cyborg 3D recently, and the Evo didn't make the final cut. The Cyborg was solid, adjustable and well made - it survived two years worth of getting knocked off my desk.

Cheers for the advice. I'll be getting the 3D Gold, then. I like easy decisions http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I've got the 3d Gold myself, but I'd say go for the Evo as it is more compatible with XP. Had serious problems getting the Gold to work properly. Suggest you search a bit on the net before buying either.

P.S. I'm now very happy with the 3D Gold, but it took me days to get it working properly.

I had the original 3D and have been using the Gold now for a couple of years. The only problem I have is securing the base. I need one hand almost continuously holding it firm. I read the Evo's base is designed with better stability in mind.

ARCADACE,LOL!!!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I know exactly what you mean! I often thretend to drill 7/8 holes and bolt it to my desk,or maybe a large plunger base secured to the bottom of it!!Anyway I vote for the 3DGOLD it has served me well for a few years now.

I gave my first 3D Gold to my buddy at EB in favor of a Thrustmaster Top Gun. The TMTG broke. I missed my 3D Gold so bought a new one. Then I found a bargain on an EVO so I bought that and gave the 3D Gold to the neighbor kids. Then, I traded the EVO to the neighbor kids for my 3D Gold.

I keep going back to the 3D Gold because it is a very good stick in my opinion. Very solid and can be adjusted to fit my hand perfectly. Also, it has a longer throw than most other sticks and can be more precise as a result of this.
