Hi guys,
i recenly bought the new rocksmith and I'm unable to play it. I have no idea why, I tried the proposed solutions from this forums but maybe I'm doing something wrong or it just doesn't work. My operating system is Windows 8.1 Pro N. Here is a screenshot of what happens when I strat the game in steam...

Have you launched from WIndows, not from Steam? Or from Uplay?

Have you updated all your drivers and followed the advice in this thread?

Post your system specs. Maybe we'll see something.

I dunno how 8.1 Pro differs from regular 8.1.

My first thought looking at that Ok dialog is something is asking you to change a system setting, but of course I can't tell what.

I think "Graj" is "Play", but that may still be actually just doing an installation. I wish I knew what the dialog wants. Maybe just asking to accept the installation, but no clue why there is no text.

I would not be quick just to hit Ok, but have you tried that? :nonchalance:

Yes I launched it via rocksmith2014.exe but still the same thing appears. When I launch it with Uplay it redirects me to Steam and then the thing appears too as on the screenshot.

Yes everything is up to date. No errors in device manager. Waited a bit to see if it will launch but nothing happens and when I press Ok it just closes that window.

Hmmm? I dunno.

Put a ticket into ubisoft support. The link is in my sig, and the international links are in the upper right hand corner (or at least used to be).

Try this:

You will need to go in the steam folder, usually in c:/program files(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/rocksmith2014 or something like this. Right click the .exe file of the game and go in properties. Then in the compatibility tab and choose windows 7 in the drop down. You need to check the white square about compatibility before. Then press ok and try to run the game again.

Thanks j-gvk but it still doesn't work. Tried compatibility with win 7, vista and even with xp but then I get an error that rocksmith is not compatible with that system. Maybe I should refresh my system or something cause nothing seems to work for me :(

I take it your running windows 8.1, during the upgrade a lot of people had issues with it interfering with drivers already installed and messing up some pc's to the point where they had to run the recovery disc to clear problems. It was bad enough for windows to temporarily pull the update offline. If your able to I would reccomend reverting back to win 8 untill the bugs have been sorted and settle down. I run RS1 and rs2014 on a win 8 pc without problem using onboard graphics and sound. you could try bypassing your soundcard and see if that helps.

I installed RS2014 on my Windows 8 laptop, it ran fine. I later upgraded my laptop to Windows 8.1, and RS2014 still runs fine.

No hoops to jump through or anything.

I don't know what Windows 8.1 Pro N (Windows Version 6.2 (Build 9200)) throws into the mix.

I've been putting off upgrading for now until the problems get ironed out, do you see any benefits over win8? once they get the upgrade back online I may have a look at getting it, just dont want to be one of the unlucky few.

Actually I kinda regretted going to 8.1 at first. It made it even harder to find my desktop apps. I used to could get to them from the Right Edge Swipe Search Charm, but after 8.1 that just goes to the Metro (?) apps display.

So, no, no real big benefits of 8 that I could tell. They promised a Start Menu, but the cake was a lie.

It finally made look up how to fix it on google. I found several articles on "How to Banish Metro from 8.1". They helped me get to a pretty decent desktop Windows 7 style 8.1. So I am happy again.

As for the start menu, there are task bar options (I found in the article) that change the "start menu" thing to display desktop apps. That works well enough for me. I still have not bought a $5 Start Menu replacement.

Will Rocksmith 2014 work with Windows XP? I have loaded it and it will not open. I get an error and shuts down.

Hi. I am also having issues with the game.

It works on my main gaiming pc but not my lesser spec one although it does meet the minimum spec.

I have also tried it with a 2GB Geforce GTX 650 which used to be in my gaming pc and ran fine.
