This is so true. Over the course of history some of the most imporatant templars were former assassins. Its strange i can't think of an example in the opposite direction. i even think it would be an amazing story to have a templar in the next game that becomes an assassin. But that would maybe feel too similar to Edward's story.

Agreed!

Undercover Templars posing as Assassins really do make the best Templars.

Minus the fact that Haytham never truly was an assassin, yeah, it's pretty interesting.

Daniel had potential on his comics, in AC3 they made him look weak and stupid instead of a proper adversary for Desmond...

Unfortunately, yes, he looked like the perfect Templar for the series, then the game made him look like a chump.

Was Al-Mualim ever really a Templar? He was corrupted by the Apple's power, yes, but that doesn't automatically make him a Templar.

Robert de Sable refers to him as the tenth Templar who discovered the location of the treasure, though.

It would be interesting to play a Templar who becomes an Assassin... A man/woman who gains faith in humanity and people as the story progresses. He/she begins to see the flaws of the absolute control and begins to adopt the Assassin ideology (or at least lose faith in the Templars)

Its strange i can't think of an example in the opposite direction.

There was Altairs wife Maria Thorpe who was a former Templar turned Assassin. Other than that I don't recall any other Templar switching sides.

In real life (history wise) I have much respect for The Knights Templar especially from being part of a Mason family...
It makes me wonder..who are actually the bad guys in this all?
From what I've studied history wise..The Templar were the ones that believed in free minds and were the ones that hid items they didnt want in the wrong hands.
They were rounded up and slaughtered at the end of the crusades...
I wouldn't mind an AC game where we get the Templars side...

That slaughter gave rise to the superstitios infamy of the number 666. I'm sure you know this but others might not.

That threw me off the first time I played an AC game. The Knights Templar have fascinated me since I was 8 years old. Seeing them cast as evil was a little off to me.

Except Cross was made into a weak, pathetic grunt, Al-mualim WAS a Templar before he became an Assassin, he betrayed both factions and Haytham was only partially trained by an Assassin....just sayin`

First Cross got beat up by Desmond while he was holding the latter at gunpiont

then Cross got beat up by Desmond after being chased down despite having a gajiillion Abstergo guards backing him up

finally Cross got killed by Desmond despite holding him at gunpoint again in the heart of Abstergo thanks to writer's convenience

Yeah, the modern portion of AC3 was just filled with cliches and conveniences. Pretty lousy writing with an even lousier pay off. At least the missions didn't hold your hand as much as the in-animus ones.

They are missing a great oportunity then since it has Templars. Not the appocolyps 666 but just like a little easter egg or whatever they are called.

Yes and no. It is a reference to the date the order was given to "end" Templars. It has through the years been associated with the devil though.

Ah okay, then...maybe the writers just didnt see any significance to it? or maybe they didn't want more....cryptic dates since they already had one 12/21/2012

You would probably be surprised at how many real events symbols or places true meanings have been changed through history. 666 was such a horrible act against a religious faction associating it with the devil was only a mater of time.
Maybe. I can live without it but I still think it would be cool to see it.

Sorry but after looking up a couple of my books, 666 was realy a reference to Nero who was the Emporor of rome that was know for feeding christians to the lions at the arena. His name was somehow worked out to 666 in some kind of translation or code. What he did was so atrocious that the numerical form of his name eventualy was refered to as "the number of the beast" and not the actual devil.

This first AC game actually
You could find 13:16-18 with Desmonds eagle vision
For those that don't know what this means....

Revelation 13:16-18
New International Version (NIV)
16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.[a] That number is 666.

I got my facts straight it just took a little time. Cool, I really have to save up to buy the AC games I haven't played yet after I finish Black Flag.

In the UK they are selling them all together
But you can get the ezio trillogy for $21 + AC 1 for for like a total of 31-32 USD easy...pretty good deal for 4 games lol
Or you can buy AC 2 ACB and ACR sep for about 36 and ACR comes with AC1 on ps3

I can't pay off this game till 2nd of next month with my budget. I have been paying on it for 5 months now after leaving just $5 on it for over 4 more. I got serious money issues. It just bounces off my hand into others all the time. :p
