The best http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

And light years ahead of Micro$oft`s Internet Explorer.

Give it a try, you`ll like it. And if you don`t, you can always uninstall it without risk of it breaking things in Windowze, unlike its M$ cousin http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Right now these are numbers from my task manager for memory footprint:
IE.EXE 9.980K
firefox.exe 1.204k

Mind you , I have 6 tabs opened in firefox, while there's only one IE window opened.
I'm using mozilla (first thunderbird, now firefox) for a year. The best browser around. No joke.

Oh goody - currently using Mozilla 1.8 A1 on this PC is it worth the change? - only reason I use mozilla mail is newsgroups. M$ O*****k currently handles my mail. The mac Upstairs however gets the Firefox treatment http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/784.gif

I tried it, didn't like it too much at first cos I was just used to IE, then got my IE infected bad with spyware so went back to Moz FireFox and never went back to IE.

Never saw another poop~up again. Not joking like usual, Zero poop~ups here, and no asking for Active~X trash. Some things may take getting used to, here is one example from me....two (2) edit windows opening when you edit a ubi.com post and if you don't close the 2nd after the edit, and you click to edit again, you crash the Moz program. This was one reason I went back to IE until I figured the reason out, and the browser hijack/poop~ups basically disabled my IE and even Adaware could not clean it (the link below helped some though....

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html#cwshredder

Here is a Windows update website that you can get stuff from besides the normal windowsupdate.com that is designed *only* for IE (my Moz sees it as blank). haha I wonder why MS does this. lol this alone is reason for me to avoid IE as much as possible.

Thanks for posting,

Only drawback is the forced upgradeing. Last time I lost some bookmarks, the old version refused to open to allow the saving.

Just installed it. It is a great browser, speed enhancements over 0.8 and a lot of bugs (memory leaks that hogged performance) eliminated. Still needs some work but give it a go if you have not already, chances are you are not going to regret it (Yes, it keeps your IE settings without a hitch). Now lets wait for 1.0 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Did they ever get a spell checker to work with it?

SwingerSpecial
06-16-2004, 08:45 PM
Yes - Mozilla Messenger/Thunderbird have had spell checkers for a while now. Personally I prefer to use Eudora as my email client over those, but it has it's own limitations (e.g. lack of proper support for multiple accounts).

I recently spoke with a Microsoft rep at a tech show, and asked about them when are they going to have a feature in IE that will stop popups. His response in a nutshell: Go download a pop-up stopper program from MSN and use Ad-Aware (!). Can't blame him though, basically his job is to sing the praises of a breaker-point ignition over solid state systems.

I've used Mozilla and now Firefox for 2 years and I have to say that I haven't been this happy with a browser since the days of Netscape Navigator 3.0.

Any of you guys tried using Opera? I've been using it for a few months now and like it. I've found it to be a lot faster than IE (like that is hard).

LEXX_Luthor

I have used Opera on others' computer, its okay.

Yep, just downloaded the FireFox 9 and its much faster, feels lighter. Download the 9 first, then, if you already have the 8 uninstall the 8 using the uninstall in the 8 folder, and run the 9 setup. Awsum

EDIT -- and now I am getting one (1) edit window opening now, this is Aussum!!

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

I doubt it's anything from Dell, more than likely this is what happened:

Customer installs New.net domains on computer (through Kazaa or some other source)
--&gt; Customer keeps using the computer and junk snowballs on the systems
--&gt; Customer calls tech support and complains
--&gt; Tech Support tells customer to run Ad-Aware or Spybot
--&gt; Customer kills their winsock by doing this
--&gt; Customer has a meltdown and blames tech support for killing their computer's ability to connect to the internet

The spyware that's out today is not the lame Bonzibuddy/Gator stuff that was out a year ago. Now we're dealing with some really nasty ones like CoolWebSearch or AdBouncer that can't be removed by using AA/SB - You have to gut the registry manually to get rid of them, and it may take several reboots before you can get rid of all of it = Definitely something that is not possible to solve over the telephone.

Was originally using moz 1.x as a IE/OE replacement - is thunderbird the way to go for news? (currently using mozilla mail/news....)

now where do I go for skins/plugins and does anybody have suggestions for these?....

Excellent browser.
I'm actually using Mozilla at home, but usually I must run IE to look at some pages that don't show well... Same problem with Opera http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
I asume that this is because some people designing pages are following M$ standard instead of "universal" standards http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif
Fortunately things are slowly changing and M$ is collaborating actively not improving IE by other means than SPs http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

For all of you who used .8 and have lost your extentions in the latest version go to: http://update.mozilla.org/extensions/showlist.php?type=&application=firefox&os=Windows&category=&numpg=10&pageid=6
And scroll down to: Show Old Extensions 0.1.3, Its a nifty little thing which shows all your previous extentions for .8 and lets you right click and enable then. I had to find it out once i re-downloaded every extention i used to have eh? I S~ the guy who made that lol.

Also go to: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/download.html this allows you to add other engines to your standard (Top right hand corner). There is now many many search engines you can add and all you have to do is to click on the image (top right) and select your engine you want to type in the search bar http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I currently have:
Ebay
EbayUK (Searches UK Only)
Google
