Assassin’s Creed IV director Ashraf Ismail has said that the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the upcoming sailing adventure will utilize those console’s unique features, at least to some extent; though, the way it’s used on Xbox One with Kinect might be a little less substantial than Kinect Adventures.

Regarding DualShock 4′s touchpad, Ismail confirmed that the team will be using it for various things– but wouldn’t say what specifically– and that the console’s “Share” button will be implemented as expected. Xbox One’s Kienct isn’t getting as much love, but the team still says they’re using it for “a tiny little thing” at least. No words on what that means.

It's confirmed - there are dance competitions in which each ship participates in order to win loot. This is where the Kinect will be utilized.

Hahaha! How ironic! Since AC never really used any sort of camera capture for anything, I doubt the Kinect would be of any use.

The touchpad brings up the map and you can zoom and set way points much like a touch screen phone.
TBH I hope that this is all this is ever used for..navigating through maps and screens..i never want to see the touch pad used for actual gaming unless its like LBP where you can drag and drop with your finger to create levels

But is that all?

During my game experience that's all I got from it.. also it serves as like the old start/select button pulling up the map as such.

Hmm it's interesting he says it's more precise for controlling the map. Basically that's good news for the steam controller.

How come you guys didn't know about the PS4 touchpad being the map? - thought one of the Eurogamer Expo threads had that nugget?

Way to go Shade wanting (and succeeding) to blow it for everyone. Anyway, it seems a cool use for it. I have always pictured that is what it will be used for (excluding KZ and maybe Destiny.) But only time will see I guess.
