Hi,

Set up a post D Day mission in FMB (not at all accurate) and in it, there are a couple of B25's (forget the model but the one with the bloody big cannon in the front and the 4 0.50's in the nose) trying to take out advancing Tiger tanks. Obviously they're AI, as I am leading a flight of Spit IX's with 250 and 500 lb'ers to try and hit an 88mm battery. Anyway, when playing back the track later, was watching the B25's hit the Tigers and it was awesome - I'd given them HVAR's as well, and on the first pass the lead aircraft comes into a shallow dive then all the forward firing guns and all the HVAR's loose off and I'm sure there is a single shot from the (75mm?) cannon in the nose. It occurred to me that this sort of firepower pretty well puts everything else to shame inc. P38's, P47's and IL2's. Anyway, sure as hell looks fearsome, especially in 1/4 speed playback.

Anyone know if this is the largest number of forward firing weapons on an aircraft in the game? Until we get a rocket armed Beaufighter of course...

Cheers,

Budvar

The Hs-129 is a rival perhaps...

I know the 129 has that colossal great blunderbuss up front, but what else does it have facing forwards? I think there are 4 20mm? But didn't think you could bung rockets on it as well - though have to confess I've never triead, and am at work just now...

Wait for the Ju-88... maybe it has 24 MGs in 4 pods firing forward + some in the fuselage... but weak ones http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

There was a modified "C" variant of the B-25 used in Pacific straffing runs that had as much forward firepower as an entire Army Platoon. Wish I could find the article in WWII mag around here somewhere...friggin' wife and her 'organizing' frenzies http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Well two things, plus a confession!

First - cool pic Tooz mate - where did you come by that one? Must have missed it last time (tho I don't get in here very often)...

Secondly - 24MG's pointing forwards on a Ju88 - holy smeg! Which variant was that?!

And now for the confession - I did buy CFS3 - uninstalled it about a week after FB went on the hard drive and it's only been back on once since - lasted a weekend and I removed it again (having remembered why), but it does have that 14 gun B25 (8 in the nose in two vertical columns)! I believe it was an RAF only variant known as the widow maker informally - anyway, you could load that beast up with rockets too AFAIR, and make a real mess of a train! The mossie was good too (in terms of fire power), in fact that's why I wasted my money in the first place. Actually, I seem to recall there was a flyable 88 in there as well.

Still - thanks for the info chaps - I'm at the head of the queue with you guys when (if - ulp) we get some of these planes in FB. In the meantime will have to keep pretending the P38 is made of wood and wearing roundels!!!

Sorry Flatspin - missed your reply while typing - would love to know about that C variant if you ever find the article. I'm a **** fighter pilot but I get my rocks off ground pounding http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/icon_twisted.gif
