http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gifIs it an idea to put german nightfighters into the next update patches, like; bf 110G-4,Ju 88G-6. All with radar-antennas(lichtenstein BC,or SN-2). Also i would like to fly with Ju 88G-6 nightfighters equiped with the famous "Schrage Music" weapon installation...

Id love to fly Schrage Musik fighters too but I don't think we'll get RADAR in FB.
BoB will have it though apparently.

"Jazz Music" slanted cannons in the fuselage pointed upwards. Nightfighter weapons which were used to attack unsuspecting enemy bomber from underneath. They were behind the pilot for minimum muzzle flash blinding, and also no tracer was used to avoid loss of surprise.

HAHA No AI see in the dark...and that means AI gunners. You won't like it and you will Whine.

But if Nite fighters were in THE GAME, we could get some real Whining going on to pressure Oleg into fixing this.

This subject was previously addressed by Oleg quite some time ago. Basically, the primitive state of radar in those days (no blip on a screen) required great skill on the part of the operator. Because of this and Oleg's requirement for historical accuracy, he has pretty much said it will not be done. A more user friendly arcade-ish radar would probably work fine for most of us, but Oleg has his standards and you can't fault him for that.

There was more to Schr├┬Ąge Musik than just fitting a few angled-up cannon, usually MG 151/20 or MK 108. These were put in the rear of the cockpit of the Bf 110, in the aft fuselage of the He 219, and behind the cockpit of the Ju 88 and Do 217. It was important to attack undetected, and therefore tracers were not used. Special ammunition with a faint glowing trail replaced them. The guns were given flash reducers. An additional gunsight was installed in the cockpit to aim the guns. The attack from below had the advantage that the nightfighter crew could observe and identify the silhouette of the aircraft before they attacked. At the same time the bomber crew could not see the nightfighter against the dark ground, nor defend itself: The belly turrets of British bombers had been removed because of their limited effectiveness and to reduce drag. The nightfighter usually aimed for the fuel tanks, not for the fuselage, because of the risk that exploding bombs would damage the attacker. Schr├┬Ąge Musik soon produced devastating results. It was at its most successful in the winter of 1943-1944. This was a time when losses became unacceptable: The RAF lost 78 of 823 the bombers that attacked Leipzig on 19 February, and 107 of the 795 bombers that attacked Berlin on 30 March

Here's an interesting post about Ju-87 Gs possibly being fitted with the Schrage Musik installation. I doubt this was an operational modification, but it's an interesting possibility nevertheless....

You wouldn't have a bloody chance of getting close or undetected with the current AI, so what would be the point?

why it's not possible to make a 3D model
of a nightfighter with antennas, cause in the game there is a Bf-110G-2 with Nightskin...but not with antennas on the nose.
I've make nightfighter-missions with the famous german nightfighter-tactics.and offcourse a lot of skin can be download from IL2skins.com..

It's possible to make a new 3D model from a Bf-110G-2 with antennas(SN-2) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Model AI in such a way that it couldn't see nightfighters at night? Not that hard realy.

Flash supressors and low glow ammunition was already use before Schraege Musik. With SM tracers were mostly not used at all, and only few SM guns had supressors (as they weren't needed because of their location).

Also British bombers simply hadn't belly turrets at all, they weren't removed.
