Calling all Aussies and allieds - petition UBISoft - to support inclusion of New Guinea maps e.g. Port Moresby, Buna, Lae, Milne Bay, and at least a couple of Aussie airfields in North Queensland and ACT, Horn Island etc. for Pacific Fighters

See posts at RAAF Virt Sqn
http://www.raafsquad.com/msgbrd/viewtopic.php?p=1128#1128

Inclusion of the types of planes flown by the RAAF but not currently listed for inclusion in PF would be a bonus as well e.g. PBY, Hudson,Vultee Vengance, Beaufighter,Boomerang, Avro Anson, Wirraway etc to name several.

Why? Because if you dont you may not get it.

Well that would be pretty cool, realistically though I think the Hudson, Beaufighter.

Other planes flown by Australians/New Zealanders

There were many Australian and New Zealand Pilots and crew serving in the British Air Force (in some cases almost making whole Squadrons) so this list should also include almost anything in the ww2 British Air Force.

Corsair
Hawker Demon: 1935 - 1942
Brewster Buffalo
Bell P-39 Airacobra
P-40 Tomahawk/Kittyhawk/Warhawk
Curtiss P-40 Warhawk.
Supermarine Spitfire
CAC Boomerang
De Havilland Mosquito
Bristol Beaufort
Vultee Vengeance: 1942 - 1946
Bristol Beaufighter
North American B-25 Mitchell
B-24 Liberator
Supermarine Walrus
Short Sunderland
Lockheed Hudson
PBY Catalina
Vought Kingfisher: 1942 - 1948
Lockheed Ventura
Lockheed PV-1 Ventura
Martin Mariner: 1943 - 1946
Army Cooperation:
Auster AOP: 1944 - 1959
Trainers:
Avro 504: 1919 - 1928
De Havilland Moth: 1926 - 1946
Avro Cadet: 1935 - 1945
CAC Wirraway: 1939 - 1958

I would love to see the all the maps

Gotta say that I am hoping that this game may be open source after the release of PF. Or at least open source to a select few trusted modders who will regulate the flight models for estra A/C.

I hope it doesa not all go to confusing **** with people using a hug number of patches online that nobody can keep up with.

Definately keen to see a PNG type map
so I can fly my favourite mount out of Bougainville (see sig)

Aussie and Kiwi dynamic campaigns would be a godsend.

I'm sure the guys at the New Zealand fighterpilots museum would be gratefull too ...hint hint

I agree. The Aussies and New Zealanders really ought to be well represented in PF.

Burnin has said that a flyable Beaufighter will be included in PF. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Not representing PNG would be apalling. Could they be so lazy?
I'm thinking that given the dedication in providing such a quality product as FB. Chances are we'll get our maps plus a whole lot more.

Fingers crossed.

Yelonet, you are becoming a boring and all to typical Eurocentric Troll. Why don't you run off somewhere and join Jagdmailer,Issy and Huck?

I do not understand the adverse reactions the Euros are having to Pacific Fighters. The UBI General Discusssion has seen several comments like this already. Have the naysayers forgotten that the European Powers were involved in the Pacific?

I don't believe thats what he means ElAurens.
The original post asks for support from all Aussies and Allies ("Calling all Aussies and allieds").
Kinda weird, why would Axis fliers not want these maps? Thats probably what Yellonet meant.
Also as a 'Euro' I'm very much looking forward to PF as are many other Europeans. So I don't understand why you believe we wouldn't be happy with a simulation based in the Pacific. In fact I find the Pacific front way more interesting than the Western front or Eastern front.

MetalG, having flown with you I know how you stand on the Pacific Theatre. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

But if you look at some threads there is some aversion to PF, mostly among Europeans. I'm just trying to understand why. And perhaps yellonet and I are having a language/translation problem, but his post seems to be negative towards PF. If not then I am in error, and admit it.

Perhaps yellonet can shed some light on his comments?

Spot on MetalG. Too bad everyone can't recognize sarcasm... was trying to make a point.. silly me.

The first post suggests that only Australiens/allies would be interested in New Guinea and such maps, which is totally and utterly false.

BTW, PF is the game I'm looking forward to the most. PTO-sims have always been something extra http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yep ElAurens, there are also quite some Europeans who would rather not have a Pacific Theatre sim but instead want a Western Front sim.
But I guess whichever theatre you choose, there will be folks who rather see something else.
As you said before, a number of European countries were also involved in the Pacific war, so I also do not understand why some Europeans would not like to fly in the Pacific http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
However there are a lot of Euros who are looking forward to PF, fortunately.

On Yellonet's post, I think part of the misunderstanding may have been that it's sometimes quite hard to tell if someone's joking or being sarcastic.

I think that for many Europens the Pacific is far away.
They don't know much about it, we have not territory there any more, etc.

Maybe some even don't really realize that their country played a big role there.

For the Dutch I think that they saw more action in the Pacific then in Europe itself.
But only few people are interested.

strangely enough most of the ANZAC pilots and crew fought out of Britain right from the start and suffered heavy losses during the bombing campaign over Germany.
the AUSSIES put on a good show with their P40's
and BEAUFIGHTERS and where on the offensive all the time specially during GUADALCANAL and earlier after the debacle at CORAL SEA pouding the japs at BUNA and LAE.
Both planes are available in PF with various models. The NEW GUINEA map must be in the sim or else it would be like not having France on the european map for F.B.

This region is required.

BTW, I have loads of airfield images (recon and BDA pics) for the region. I have a thread, but I haven't even begun to scan this stuff compared to what I have.

Lets keep this past and others supporting New Guinea maps and campagins involving the RAAF, IJN, USAAC, Dutch pilots etc alive and ticking.

There was a post that suggested a similar set of maps to Joe Amodea's Defence of Australia for CF2 could be done. However this needs to include the RAAF 11 and 20 Sqns with Catalina's as well, which also played a significant role in the Defence of Aussie.

Lets keep the spirit alive!

What would The Pacific be without Nui Guinea and Northern Australia ?
Where would the yanks go for R'n'R ?
Where would McCarthur have an alternative H.Q. ?
What would the Japanes bomb south of Singapore ?
Where would the 75th fly to and set up base ?
Would there still be a Coral Sea without Niu Guinea ?

PUNT!

This is the best map for close combats using a mixture of navy and air force planes on all sides, bar none. It's one of the few places you can have fields historically close together, too (Tsili-Tsili to Lae springs to mins, what was it, like 30-40 miles?).
