Sometimes I feel like Lorne Balfe doesn't get enough appreciation around here. Jesper is still my favorite and I prefer his style overall, but Lorne has many good tracks too. Jesper tends to dominate every soundtrack poll on these forums, so this time I'm making you choose your top 5 from BOTH composers. :) (Wish I could include Brian Tyler, but we haven't heard enough of AC4's soundtrack yet.)

My favorites (in no particular order):

Jesper Kyd

1. City of Rome
2. Venice Rooftops
3. Access the Animus
4. End Fight
5. Acre Underworld

Lorne Balfe

1. Ratonhnhaké:ton
2. What Came Before
3. Labored and Lost
4. You Have Earned Your Rest

I want to name more! There're way too many good tracks by him.

I think Jesper is over-rated on these forums, like Patrice.

I think the composers were pretty equal in their tracks.

(No order)

Jesper:
- Access the Animus
- Earth
- Brotherhood Escapes
- No Mistakes (the track name is from ACR soundtrack, but the music itself is also present in AC1 in Kingdom)
- Crossroads of the World

Lorne:
- Road to Masyaf
- The Pursuit
- Fight Club
- Wild Instincts
- Ratonhaketon

Though, I think I would add a few more to the list for both since I listen quite a few of their tracks over and over, but, hey, five for each :)

This song out of the whole AC series speaks to my soul because I'm half Native, I can relate through the meaning. It's beautiful. :'(

exactly the kind of behavior that makes me think they're over-rated.

Jesper made the music that set the tone of the atmosphere of the first three games, and Patrice bloody invented the franchise o_O

They're not overrated.

I still think they're over rated in the sense that I think that others can still make the series better. Besides that, Lorne's work was just as good as Jesper's.. to be honest, I think most composers are equal anyway. Jesper Kyd, Lorne Balfe, Brian Tyler, Jeremy Soule, Hans Zimmer, Alan Silvestri, James Horner, to name a bunch.

The main purpose of that post was to provoke a reaction :p
Anyway what LoyalACFan said. I think very highly of them, and I don't particularly care if I overrate them, they deserve the recognition to be honest.

Jesper Kyd:

1. Ezio's family
2. Earth
3. City of Rome
4. Home in Florence
5. AC1 chase theme

Lorne Balfe:

1. Main theme
2. Ratonhnhaké:ton
3. Connor's Life
4. Homestead
5. Fight Club

I'm definitely in the minority when I say this, but aside from AC2, none of Jesper Kyd's songs stood out much to me. The soundtrack for Brotherhood was rather dismal imo. AC1 had some nice ambient tracks in the cities, and Revelations had an amazing main theme, but other than that they didn't leave too big of an impression on me.

But I'm really loving Brian Tyler's work so far. The chase/fight music or whatever sounds amazing.

Brian Tyler sounds like he's doing a hell of a job with Black Flag. It sounds great already.

Lorne Balfe

-Assassin's Creed R Theme

-Bonus: AC Brotherhood's E3 trailer...

Edit: Oh and I LOVE "King Washington"! It sounds like John Williams and it's sinister in the same way The Imperial March and well... everything that's affiliated with the Emperor...

Really? I'm not surprised at all. I'm not sure why so many made such a big deal out of it. haha. I always knew for sure. Ubi might mess up a game but they usually provide, when it comes to a good soundtrack. It's not like thee were going to get some random composer off the streets, and say hey come make music.

I'm looking forward to what Brian has in store.
