If its PS4 , Im pretty disappointed it looks the same as AC3 graphically.

Will there be a big difference between next gen and current gen versions or will AC4 just be a bit smoother and sharper on next gen?

Also is it going to be

1080p 60fps on next gen?

I think it's either a PS4 or a PS4 dev kit running on PC. In regard to your 1080p @ 60fps question, pretty much all next-gen games will be 1080p, but only some will be 60fps. AC4 multiplayer runs at 1080p @ 60fps, whereas the singleplayer is 1080p @ 30fps.
Differences between current-gen and next-gen will be stuff like filtering, improvements in vegetation, essentially more stuff going on in the screen at any one time.
Hope this answers your question.

Fps doesn't affect general aesthetics right? Higher fps just means it plays more smoothly right?

It's the same game so graphically there won't be much difference. There will, however, be differences in performance. I'm afraid the PS3 version will have the same framerate problems texture pop-in that AC3 had, while the PS4 version will be running quite smoothly!

FPS is a funny thing, as while it doesn't necessarily affect graphical fidelity, when compared to one another, a game that's running at 60FPS looks far nicer and smoother than a game running at 30FPS. But it is just mostly smoothness. If that answers your question

Ps2

I lol'd so hard on this for some reason.

But I assume it was probably PC with PS controller. If not maybe PS4?

You really can't get mad graphic wise. I mean graphics can only be pushed so far before there is a cap ya know. I'm not sure what people want anymore. Real People? Virtual Reality?

Also, YouTube compresses the crap out of these videos!

Well tbf, Ubi didnt really compress them well either. And to any mod that tells me otherwise, you lie. Also it shows, the last video that had the 1080p and 720p option looked great in 720p

Transition from PS3 to PS4 is going to be far less obvious than the transition from PS2 to PS3.

I think it is PS4 gameplay, running in 1080p at 30fps.

I agree with you, but I'm hoping that as the next-gen consoles age, the devs can use the console to it's maximum potential. But that's also my concern with next-gen. That they'll reach that boundary fairly early on, making games stagnate (graphics and performance-wise) until a new console generation comes about.

Strongly disagreed.

I have AC3 on PS3 and PC. Even on minimum settings at 1080p, PC version is MUCH nicer. Max settings it completely blows console graphics away.

I hope it's PS3. Because if it's PS4, it looks pretty reductive.

Its PC footage I think. The rendering is just complete crap.

It's PC(devkit) footage most probably....lol @ people thinking current gen looks like this.

And yes idk who is incharge of compressing videos but he's doing a pretty bad job. I can see Chroma subsampling, possibly in 4:2:0 ratio which is bad.

Transition from PS3 to PS4 is going to be far less obvious than the transition from PS2 to PS3.

..in character models. Effects will becomes much nicer and realistic, and AI processes will be able to become more complex. You're limiting game systems to one very specific part of them.

Well ofcourse it is, doesn't mean it's not required it's definitely required....anyone suggesting otherwise it a caveman and should go back to making stick figure paintings on caves.
